Default Clamp downs on Maxi Extension Table

I have just recentl acquired a 2000 Workcentre with Maxi Sliding Extension Table. Have had a play with the hold downs on the fence of the Extension Table and find them somewhat fiddly and slow to use.

I was playing around with some hold downs off my drill press but they don't reach down far enough to clamp a 16 or 18mm bit of MDF.

Has anyone replaced the clamp downs on this Extension and if so what did you use?

I made another fence, rather than use the Triton fence, and fixed two quick release hold down clamps onto it.

Personally I think that was one of my best jigs as I still use them regularly even though I upgraded to a TS.

Here is the link to my post showing details. https://www.woodworkforums.com/f15/sliding-extension-table-jigs-7811

Thanks Sturdee, that is lateral thinking!

Did a search on extension and clamps but this didn't come up.

What material did you use for the fence, MDF and then painted with Telecom Gold?

Did you buy the shorter rail for the router table from Triton?

    Probably not possible anymore now.

Your workshop looks fantastic, you must be a real perfectionist!

The fence is made from seasoned hardwood and the front is faced with smooth laminex, the rest is painted. I bought longer metric bolts from a local bolt supplier for the clamping to the extension table and resused the bits from the original.

The shorter rail came from Triton as a spare, should still be available.

I stole Studee's idea but used the Triton fence
