Default Are my ear muffs faulty?

While clicking back the ear muffs to take off my powered respirator, the complete assembly of the right hand ear muff detached itself from the hard hat.
Has something broken ? or are they just a press in fit into the bracket behind/above the visor ?

    Default Could be either

    Mike,

I think, based on rapidly fading memory, that they are a press on fit. Haven't had a play with one for a while though.

That being said, they press onto a plastic sticky outy thing. So long as that hasn't broken off, you should be ale to press the arm back on.

Not fully sure on this one as don't have a respirator handy to check.

    Thanks for your reply.

At the top of the arm to which the ear muff is attached there is a peg which goes into the bracket on the hard hat. The design of the bracket suggests that there might be a lug on the ear muff arm that allows it to be inserted and then turned through 90 degrees to hold it in. If this is so, then this is what might have broken off - or was never formed in the moulding process. On the other hand, the peg is split which suggests it might be held in by friction - the 2 halves of the peg opening slightly within the bracket.

I am just after some feedback from other Triton users so I can decide where to go from here. The respirator works okay but everytime I take it off the ear muff detaches itself. An examination of the other ear muff and its bracket sheds no light as it looks pretty much similar - although it doesn't come off in my hand when I take off the respirator

They are faulty, there is a small plastic lug on the muff. Normally you have to rotate the muff to a certain angle to remove them.

My set was faulty out of the box, had them replaced under waranty afer a month or so wait.

I received replacement brackets for my ear muffs within 2 weeks. Powered respirator is now back in business. Triton's attention to my problem was very satisfactory. Thank you.
