End of an era
I would like to point all Triton owners to Stuarts blog entry dated 4 August relating to the sale of the assets at Triton Manufacturing Cheltenham.
Is this the end or just a tidy up?

Dear Phoenix,
With the streamlined Triton section within the "Tool Shop" in each BigB still displaying the Work Centre, Powered Saw Table, and the Router Table (ie. the gear that was being made at Cheltenham), you'd have to figure that they must just be moving offshore.
Also, those said bits of gear still show up in the new '08/'09 Catalogue. Interesting though, because you would have thought that they would have planned an "update" to coincide with any move offshore...
Best Wishes,
Batpig.

Cheltenham closing that is correct.....moving offshore all operations is not correct......moving facilities within Oz is correct.
Simply need to update and manufacturing of table stuff will stay in Oz.
Now theres no need for this thread to go for 20 pagesEagle

Dear Eagle
A bit disappointed from your quote of 8th July 08 (or thereabouts) in reference to the factory.........
its not going anywhere mate.......
First I was so disappointed to hear that Gordon had been moved on to less greener pastures... he was my prime motivator to go orange and also encourage my mates.....
This and other comments you put up for a while now was a definite reassurance that things are going along as normal, nothing is changing for Triton and the factory.....
I guess the proof will be in an announcement of where and when the new production facility will be.... bigger, smaller, same size, same or more or less products...... I like Auusie stuff even if a few cents more.....
Can this move be revealed honestly, or still subject to embargo on commercial grounds? A sort of mecca to many... a place that if I ever dare venture again over to Melbourne I had hoped to visit......
Of course you could make my day and tell me it is moving to Adelaide !

Hi Guys (and Gals),
I've just bought a Triton Workcentre 200 and Router Jigsaw Table / stand.
Absolutely the best gear - (from a Design Drafters point of view),
Slightly biased Aussie opinion
When I was sourcing this gear at my local Mitre 10, I was most dismayed to be told that the two Aussie Guys that had bought Triton from Hills Industries,
had done so, to put it on "the back burner", as they are the importers of another product from China, and Triton was outselling them!!!
Truth or hear say?? (from the manager of my local Mitre 10)
Regards
Jenko

A bit of truth and a bit of fiction. GMC did buy Triton from Hills but it seems Triton will continue. I don't think anyone really knows for sure what the long term will bring for them. Bunnings has rationalised the amount of different Triton products they sell but will still continue to sell them.
