    Default GMC 318mm planner

    Hi,

I have an older GMC 318mm thickness planner that has not had much heavy use.

I have just received a stack of old hardwood fence palings that I am going to plane down.

I imagine this will result in blunt blades (single edged).

Does anyone know a source for replacement blades or where in Sydney I could get these blades resharpened.

I note the Hafco entry level planner looks similar, Would these blades fit?

    James

I have seen the Ryobi blades at big B previously, they are double edged, my GMC blades are only single edged, would that make a difference?

    James

Although the supposedly GMC blades on EBay are double edged???

    Hi James,
No difference at all the only thing they're more expensive, if that's ok with you. The ones on ebay are the real GMC product, I know as I bought a couple from
Cheaptools in Bairnsdale 0351525151 for $15.00
    Regards
    Jack

    Thanks Jack,

I will see if I can get a couple.
I did some checking on the forum and at Carba-tec and it seems their 12.5" planer has the same blades. (but more expensive).

Agree with all the other options but at the end of the day it's what you want to pay..........they're all made in china anyway.

Jack you're right it is not about one brand being better than the other, more about which name on the packet you like (and price tag)
