I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

In the February edition of the Pommy wood turning magazine, on page 11 there is an advertisement Triton saying " Now officially available in the UK."
On page 86 there is competition to win a work centre 2000.
What do they know that we don't????

I've got lots of GMC stuff. Don't have the slightest complaint about it.

AEG is pretty good - my cordless AEG drill and jigsaw are both AEG and they are awesome, my blue Bosch corded drill sits in the shed unused ) I bought both from Bunnings. I truly miss Triton gear in the toolshop though - I am hanging out for a Triton Router and Router table, I have a jigsaw kit unused too! which is part of the reason to get the router table.
Come on Triton come back, I really don't want to have to buy another piece of Ryobi crap!

GMC/Triton Sale
Hi.
The best answer I can give you is that I have no doubt that the employee of GMC/Triton was only conveying to me what she had been told to tell people like myself when the phoned. I have NO reason to doubt the information. My belief is that it is true.

It is probably, in my experience, also the case that there are a number of things that need to be done before the sale can go through - eg consents from suppliers. landlords, etc and neither the receiver nor the purchaser want to make an announcement until the deal is fully done.
In that case, I s'pose we should just wait and see...Cheers
Jeremy
If it were done when 'tis done, then 'twere well it were done quickly

I never understood why that policy was adopted. The previous American experience with it was and is the same. I saw people returning a complete set of tools saying they were unhappy with them. When you looked at the tools they had clearly just built a deck and were getting a free hire. The sales people hated it too as they had to bite their tongues and just take the stuff back.
The people who do it say it is not illegal and don't have a problem with it. Since the company allows the policy I guess they are right.

As we all know. There was one or two things wrong. But hopefully with new owners coming, things may get better.
IMHO a standard warranty and reliable products will work now.
I am happy with GMC products for what I buy them and use them for(The small light odd jobs around the house or for my hobby)They will probably last me out.The odd thing that was faulty, have been replaced
Long waits on the phone and not delivered on the right day etc.Can you relate to that one???.
Quaility has improved over a couple of years, and they even look good.
I was showing a friend my 750w jigsaw I got for $25 from toysfortheboys on ebay last year.It looks $1,000,000 worth an works just as good, very smooth running.
I could have bought a $10-$15 one in town but I have used one of these.Nearly shook my shoulder off and was very hard to keep on the cutting line.
I used trade quality tools when I was working, but have gradually replaced them with cheapies,as they do what I need now.
Go the NEW GMC we need you(only want 10cents an item if you use this name)Back To Car Building & All The Sawdust.

I wouldn't be suprised if the % was low. When you consider how many people bought GMC over the years, you only ever here about the bad experiences. Bit like A Current Affair and others. If we believed them every car dealer / land lord is a crook.
If we only looked at the negative reports about Triton products we could form the same opinion, yet we are happy to accept that it is a good prodcuct.
Me personally I have a lot of GMC and no issue with any of it. Maybe I was selective in the pieces I bought, or maybe my expections of what I was buying was realistic.
