    Thanks for the tips.
Yeah I work for a company similar to GMC but in a different industry. Can't sell direct to public or your customers (retailers) will have a conniption. But if you don't have customers anymore....so worth a cheeky question. On a side note it's challenging when your larger customers start becoming competitors (by importing there own branded gear) yet you can't compete with them in retail.

wish I did mate, I would sell them no problems. Unfortunately we dont and I would seriously doubt you would find any at any store in Oz!!

Will have to wait for the takeover and then for the production to re-commence!

and in alot of cases Rob so is Maktec. Have a look at the clam shells of the tools, they are the same as whats been going round in cheap tools for at least 10 years. I wouldnt call Maktec DIY tools as the pricing does not reflect that. Their opening price point tools are far higher in price than other DIY. They should be called perhaps - light trade...although who knows what that really means!

I think there are two types of home handymen- the 2 projects a year and someone like me who is always building objects to suit the house and stuff for the kids instead of buying it. As i only do this on weekends and not always using the same tools but not having the need to hand over big money, a mid range item in quality and price suits me just fine.I have a few friends who are tradesmen and they have shown me a few things but you still need a have decent tool.As for light trade maybe there is a niche market there that nobody knows, i am sure that some people would hand over more bucks for a better product.

Was in Bundaberg yesterday - the big green box has a heap of Triton stuff, I recognised 2 routers still in boxes, 1 super jaws, 1 work centre and a heap of stuff in smaller boxes.

I tried for the super jaws to be told the price was on the shelf $195, routers $315. When I asked about checking the computer prices I was told,

"We are going out of this stuff but he prices are still the same."
"Do me a favour and check the prices for me please."
    "Nuh, still the same."

So much for trying to pick up a bargain - seems to be typical of my luck.

I get the feeling that as long as people keep asking for the Triton stuff, stores like B*nnings aren't going to give it away for nothing if they can sell it at (or near) full price, because from experience I can say that it doesn't matter what price they offer, people will always attempt to get some sort of discount ;-)

It seems most Bunnies managed to exhaust their Triton stocks without sales. My local sold most of theirs then found their orders would not be filled.

(I'm starting a rumour the Triton label may be picked by a 'blue' tool company.)

This add appeared in this weeks Blue Mountains Gazette, its billed as a warehouse clearance sale, but its mostly hand power tools very few of the larger GMC products such as mitre saws and bench top sanders. It certainly doesn't look like a total liquidation of all stock.

As it is difficult/impossible to read the fine print in the adv, are these being offered with or without warranty?

I just got the big triton router at the big green shed in Morayfield Qld for $200 on Thursday 19/02/09. I said that there was no price on it since xmas and would like to know the price please. They said OK but no warranty as triton is going out of business (I know what Eagle has said) and as it was 'F' stock on the computer they said $250. I said no without a warranty then they said $200, I said sold. So you can get a discount sometimes. I'd rip off the price tag to get the lazy buggers to check.
