    Default GMC router query

I have a 1500w GMC router which I'm trying to adapt to my Triton Router table. The problem I have is that I just can't find a way to remove the plunge spring, short of butchering the pin under the base plate.
The manual gives no clues, so I'm wondering if anyone has managed to achieve it.
    Cheers, Bob

I did modify a GMC router to fit under the Triton router table. but can't really remember what I did. I don't think I removed the spring, I did set it up so that it had a knob to be able to screw the router up and down. Will get some pics of it tomorrow for you, if you like?

I'll have to check tomorrow how I removed the springs from mine.

As promised pics of my modification to make the GMC a wind up and down router. a very simple modification, I left the spring in also.
Where the adjustable stop block went, I drilled and tapped to suit 10 mm allthread.
A piece of 16 mm OD tube with a 10 mm nut welded top and bottom, length was just enough to clear the body, with a 3 star threaded knob on the bottom, and a tool clip to stop the tube unwinding. This was found to be a requirement after testing.

I found this to be a worthwhile modification, as you can get minute adjustments.
Hope this helps others setting up a GMC router under a table. This idea could possibly be used on other plunge routers also.

    Timely...
I'm just about to install a gmc mag 2050r router into a triton table, and I was wondering about options to easily adjust depth.
This looks like it would work for me too. Might even be possible to make it adjustable from above. Still tricky to change bits though.

Don't suppose anyone has a spare 1/2" collet for one of those? Mine came complete without.. Although all my bits are 1/4 anyway.

Many thanks for your suggestion, Kryn. Does this mod mean you can no longer use the depth stop?

That's correct Bob, I leave it set up under the Triton Bench, as we also have another router, a 1/4" which is used as a hand held one.
A possibility, is that the end of the all thread be threaded to suit the depth stop rod??
