Height winder pushing on the table top
I have just installed my height winder, only taken 3 years.
Great piece of kit.
However I notice the chassis [the plate the saw sits in] moves up, the opposite end to the height winding adjustor.
That is as you lower the saw blade down the plate/chassis raises up slightly [about 7mm] applying pressure to the table top.
This pressure effects the fence sliding easily.
Any thoughts, comment?
Thanks

No problem with mine either. Recheck those instructions.

Pulpo,
No problems here either. That plate does pivot on the track runners and they are not fitted at the very end so the plate does travel up a bit when you lower the saw, but the only places I could see it could possibly contact the table top is where the the two table top slots are, and there should be two matching cut-outs in the plate to avoid this. I tried to get a photo but couldn't get the focus right. Hope you resolve it

Ian no need for a photo I know exactly what you are refering to.
I see what your saying about the slots on the plate to allow for the rise.
But somehow the plate is putting pressure on the table top.
In every other way it works fine, the alignment perfect, the winding mechanism works fine.
I'm not sure if its from the sides of the slots on the plate or the top of the slots are touching the table top.
Should the table top sit slightly proud of the fence runners, so the material is touching the table first?
I have read the height winder instructions twice, and also re assembled but still no joy.
Shall play some more.
Thanks

Found the problem, rotating the bearings 180 degrees just did the trick.
Yes I did rotate the bearings but I have a feeling were in the wrong way to begin with or I just got distracted whilst assembling the unit, and not sure they were not rotated 360 degrees.
It works perfectly
Thanks for your help, it only took me about 4 hours to have the height winding unit installed and in perfect working order.
Lets hope I recover that time rather than have the hand through the dust bag.
Cheers
Pulpo
