Default Hello I just purchased a combo package workcentre second hand garage sale

    Hello all
I am still very new I would say to all this. Now last weekend I just happen to go tool shopping via garage sale just looking to see what I could pick up in reasonable condition and that suit my budget (next to nil) anyway there was a Triton 2000 WCA201 to witch I'm told is the latest version and reasonable condition. Asked how much, not his, its a mates but its is for sale so he took my number and his mate called me and said to come and have a look because there's lots or other stuff. He purchase this at an auction some years back and never used it and been sitting in a garden shed with MK3 table ant RSA300 router table RTA300 table stand in the router table a Triton router TRI-TRA001B (https://www.carbatec.com.au/power-to...and-2-collets#) and the mk3 a makita 9"1/4 N5900B 2000watt (http://www.makita.com.au/products/po...m-circular-saw) so not looking what was in the huge box, I asked how much Replied that he be happy to make his money back from the auction he wanted 800 for the lot I looked a bit grim cause not in my budget and he wont sell them separate. I said sorry but i can only offer 600 and with a smile he said sold Wow. So as soon as I have it set up. I will take a few pics and post.
Now the box: Biscuit jointer, lots of bits and pieces for the tables. and mini-slide attachment dust bag for the 2000 all the hoses a 20lt bucket with vacuum hoses no lid for the bucket in the buck there's this long spring wondering what its for anyway found out its the routers plunger spring as it been removed from the plunger and its actually seize up in it's last position so i took it appart gave it a good clean works great i think should replace the collect as it was a bit rusty but only on the outside cause a bit was in and the plunger spring will not go back in as the insert is missing and the housing knob screw at the top, broken so it cant take the spring load no biggie it will be in the table all the time. Anyway I found a use for the mk3 as to the table top is in bad nick but ill sand that down and stick a laminate on it and use it as an out-feed or cross cuts on big stuff most of its parts are missing anyway
and the 2000 doesn't have the locking pins but nothing a nut and bolt wont solve besides that its all there, the router attachments I haven't gone thru all the bits. So for the end when everything is set up and cleaned up I'm most likely to have millions of question and the first is best place for spare part if any missing or broken. First up the table legs plastic inserts some are missing i want to replace them s the tables sit flush so do i need to get it from Triton or any similar shape one for bunnings or masters will do ???

P.S: I quickly assemble the 2000 table and realigned the saw and ripped a small 6x2 to get a few 40mm squared blocks 150mm long just to try a test run and see. I was impressed of how accurate it cut. I love the way that if i turn the table top around and lock in that way and used the mk3 mount as it's not press metal it can be set up for us left handed people it just makes the rulers upside down but I'm use to that stuff (to this day I can't use scissors) just use it to guide the fence in position quickly and use a steel ruler before i lock it in

    Regards

Well who's a lucky boy? Sounds like a great bargain as the saw and router alone would have cost you that much new.

    Three things I recommend purchasing:
Height winder kit. An absolute must in my opinion
Dust collection kit. Catches about 90% of the sawdust from under the table
Extension table, preferably the maxi one.

Instead of turning the mkIII into an outfeed table, consider having it set up permanently in the crosscut mode. If you fit the dust collection system you will find that swapping between the two modes is rendered somewhat difficult, so unless you own a sliding compound mitre saw you have to keep the work centre in its basic format and invest in a respirator and lots of brooms! Additionally you can set it up as an overhead rothem, it makes cutting trenches and housings an absolute breeze. I'd been hunting one down just for that purpose and my neighbour has kindly donated his old one; now just need somewhere to put it!

With regard to the plastic inserts for the legs I'm 99% certain that they are a custom made item as they are designed to be used at an angle, but the leg tubes are pretty standard so you can probably use ordinary inserts from a hardware store or steel supplier, just get ones that are very thick. As a last resort you could fit normal skinny ones and then attach hardwood pieces onto them sanded down to get the correct angles.

Lastly, the biscuit jointer isn't all that flash as the biccies are very small. For light framing jobs like picture frames it's ok.

Panda, when you get to figuring out what parts you need the official Triton supplier in the UK is Tool Spares Online in the UK, and their site can give you the part no. for ordering.

The main supplier of parts in Australia is Carbatec on 1800 658 111, and for new parts you should try them first after you get the part no.
They don't carry all parts and sometimes have long ordering times.
Tool Spares Online offer a good service, and are economical for small parts. Not so good for heavy parts because of postage.

There is a secondhand supplier Adamtools on ebay.
If you need manuals they are posted on my club's website at www.tocact.org.au
    regards

    Thank all for the info

and chief it already had the dust collection bag that wraps around the saw.Not the bucket tho so i made one on the weekend with a cyclone top and some old cd/dvd cases that were in the computer room it looks very ruff and ugly but works extremely well on my shop vac., and it came with the mini extension I don't plan on ripping anything bigger but if the case may be where ever i purchase the lumber from, I will ask them to cut it to a seize i can manage with the stuff i already have. as for parts goes well the 2000 table is complete apart from the bullet pins on the legs so i use a nut and bolt to lock it in the plastic inserts on the legs one is missing but I'm thinking to modify them whit wheel but haven't made my mind on it yet. I downloaded all the book and printed then so when i get some time I'll do the router table next what i do know of the router table is the mdf piece whit the holes in got the weather its all bubble up but i can still measure it up for size , I got some old 6x2 cut off planks from my mate when he built his back yard boat shed, hes a roof carpenter although he never got into what i plan and like he said its to small for his fat kiwi fingers but still hes been a good source to draw from and can get plenty of off cuts from him mostly all build grade or ruff cut pending on the jobs he is doing at the time.

I do need some info on dust collection to as this mate replace his evap air con but the motor and fan in the old unit still work just fine so i took it off him 750watt motor, fan is huge now i,m thinking can i modify this into a dust extraction i should really post this in the proper thread but has anyone ever tried it ???
anyway thank again for the info my garage is a total mess now because i hat to shift everything for the saw so ill go clean up now and reorganize the things about the start on the router table

p.s I do want a height winder for the table so Cabartec Balcata would have this or need to order
Ill look around see what i can find maybe Gumtree or something

so all have a nice day
    post soon
    regards

I'm bringing the saw in to get serviced just in case as it been sitting in a shed unused and i think the bearing is gone in it , its not a grinding noise but as it slows down when i stop is it dos a whistling like sound I never seen a saw do this before but still a bargain and in the box of spare parts goodies 2 makita blue blades brad new in unopened packets 20 tooth only but still good to rip with.

and as for the router ill leave it as is I freed it all up collet works fine and i don't really need to put the spring back in because it will live in the table permanently i have my other 3 to use

I do agree that the tables where practically free even second hand on gumtree these to tools are well priced

My saw exhibited that behaviour and I found that the fan blade had become loose on the armature. I used Loctite 660 to fix it back on to the splines. the bearings were fine.

Forum member Bobl is the guru on dust extraction, and he lives in WA too, you never know he might be close to you. I would suggest sending him a PM of your thoughts along with many photos of the motor and impellor. If using an evaporative air con blower has been successfully done before then I would expect him to have heard about it. If not, then he has the requisite knowledge and tools to either make it work, or tell you from the outset it isn't worth pursuing.
