Thread: Need help connecting 4" dust collector

I had the same issue.
In the end I bought some accessories from carbatec to solve the problem.

For the table saw, I connected the carbatec "adjustable dust arm" to a slider connected to my ceiling. I slide/adjust it to either go over the top of the table saw, over my lathe, or for things like sanding work on my bench.

For the router table (I have an older triton router table), I purchased a smaller 4" dust connector outlet from carbatec and made a little box from plywood to attach this to. I connected it to my fence in place of original triton dust collector.

Not sure if others have a better way of doing this.

for some of these accessories. If you go into carbatec, you can get the smaller 4" connector by itself without purchasing the entire kit.

I didn't have time to complete the assembly but you can get the idea. I have two good size storage cupboards one at each end, an inspection panel in the middle to get at the saw. You can see the outlet to which the 4 inch hose is connected. This is directly under the saw its self.

Very nice job, and very inventive, certainly much neater than my effort.

If I can make a suggestion. why not replace the 90deg elbow with a 45deg one? You'll get better flow and I assume the hose comes from the floor anyway.

Don't throw away the Triton bin. Convert it to a mini cyclone and connect a shop vac (see the video). The 1HP will collect under the table dust but is not great above the table. You need a small pipe with high speed airflow for that. same for a router. Don't hook it up to a 1hp dusty to a router. You need the same small pipe and high speed.

1HP dust collectors are more for under tale dust from the TS and to collect shavings from a thicknesser or jointer but to be honest, you really would be better off with a 2HP for those jobs.
