Japanese Triton Clubs Visit
The Melbourne WWW show is approaching. This year I am toyig with the idea of coming down with a group of woodworkers from the Triton Clubs here in Japan.
As most of the members are retired and interested in woodwork, thought it might be a fun trip.
Aside from WWW show and a Bunnings, tour of Triton possibly am after suggestions from the woodworking community of places of interest to woodworkers.
Having been outside the country for a while no longer up to speed on the best tool shops to see, timber yards or outlets that stock a range of hinges, handles and other hardware that will blow the mind.
In a previous life I was a tour guide and am considering capping the number at 8 to 10. Any more and hey get a bit roudy.
Looking forward to your suggestions.
Steve
P.S. I also toy with the idea of bringing a group the other way some times. Nothing fancy, but I just find travelling to visit something I am interested in is always fascinating. Much better than zoos all the time.
Tokyu Hands and Joyful Honda are worth visiting. Some of the carpentry in the temples here is pretty awe inspiring too.
Come to think of it, why do people visit zoos when they travel? Is a lion in an Australian zoo differrent to a lion in a Japanese zoo?
P.P.S. Also interested in what any of the clubs will be doing at the show.
P.P.P.S Might even be interested in doing a homestay swap. Host one/Visit one. Bit like youth exchange for grown ups.
P.P.P.P.S Send no money!, Am just toying with the idea at the moment.

G'day Steve,
I would certainly like to catch up, and say hello, whilst you're at the show. Let us know your schedule when you firm it up.Chris

A visit to Al's craporium would be an eye opener. Well worth a visit when you are in Melbourne.
May be a visit to the Holmesglen Triton club meeting might also be of interest to them.
Peter.

Al's Craoprium
Hmmm...
Sturdee, did a white pages search and a google search for this enterprise. All directed me back to this forum and more specifically, posts by one Sturdee....
I am begining to suspect that this wonderful establish ment you recommend may trade under another name.
Though it may be an interesting trip, visiting every store with either "Emporium" in the name, or one that could be described as a "Craporium" may take a bit more time than I was planning on.
Any hints on where yours may be??

Guest gets a fairly cheap visit to Japan, commentary in English from someone who is seemingly neither Japanese, nor Australian and a chance to come away from Japan not thinking it is only temples, geisha girls and fast trains.
Mind you, if the guest can afford the bill, Geisha are a truly wonderful part of a dying culture.
For me, I get to have a yarn as I drive and share my passion for this little group of islands.
Who knows, may happen some day.
