Metric collet
Hi all!
Does anybody know if there is any metric collets available for the Triton routers yet? In Sweden we only use 8mm and 12mm shafts on the routerbits, and I would like to use my old routerbit collection, even if I decide to buy a Triton router

No - I've tried everywhere in both "Hitachi" style and self-releasing, no joy. The most-often used reply is "there's no call for them."
You'll have to use insert sleeves, which are obtainable. If you struggle, Leigh Industries probably have the 8mm at least.

Japan uses Metric
I sell the Triton routers in Japan with both metric and imperial collets and sleeves.
We have 12mm collet and 6 & 8mm sleeves.
Only have the old type of collet, for the big router, not the new type that is used in the smaller router.
Send me a PM if you are genuinely after the metric collet and sleeve.

This seems to be completely contrary to your reply here?

Not really
Ray,
I sell the Old router in Japan, with Old 12mm collet and 8mm sleeve.
The demand for the 8mm sleeve is very small and so I will not be asking for an 8mm collet for the new type router.
Until I do the new router, I doubt that there will be a 12mm new type collet either.
It gets a bit confusing refering to the new and the old.
If our Sweedish friend is after a 12mm old type collet and a 12mm to 8mm reducing sleeve, I may be able to help him.
If however, he is after the new type, I regret that I can be of no immediate assistance, however, once I start to sell the new Router, I should be able to help.
Steve.
P.S. I enjoy your posts and links to the photographic explanations Ray. Keep them coming.

Thank you all for your replies! I've been away at work for a while, and havn't been able to answer back. I still havn't bought any Triton router, it's only on my wish list!
Best regards

Must only be Japan that has different collets for the 2 routers. Here, both the 1400 and 2400 have the same (old-style) collets.
If you are going to start selling the 1400W, why not change the collet out, and fit the old style with the 12mm with 8mm reducer (if that is what the customer is looking for). Wouldn't be too bad if the demand for metric collets is low - your customers could then choose the 1400W or the 2400W, with a metric or imperial collet. (Or pay a bit extra to have the old style with both imperial and metric options)."Clear, Ease Springs"
