Eagle,
Anyone who read your posts would/should have been aware you worked for GMC/Triton. I, for one, would prefer to have some insight into what is happening and when and any deferred when. It is much better than rumour and misinformation, even if well-intentioned.
FWIIW, I think there is a genuine grievance that a three-month delay in release was not generally made known nor even able to be known until it was too late. The delay had to have been decided much earlier and it is believed by many, me included, that to have withheld that information was not good. It was not good from the point of product image, from the point of market anticipation or public relations.
This is not the first delay for these products.
Okay, there may be more than merely re-badging. When you speak of R & D, it whets the appetite rather than satisfies it.
I have a lot of orange, oddly not yet a Triton router but I am seriously considering getting a third router and the big one is on a short list of three. I also have been giving serious considerations to getting a bandsaw and a planer/thicknesser and at present, Triton is my preference. BUT, the feeling of confidence is eroded by what has happened with delays unaccompanied by further elaboration.
Knowledge is power.
As an example, were it the case that the delays have been caused by overcoming a possible performance deficiency to meet Triton standards, notwithstanding rebadging, that would be a comfort to me as a consumer and something I would like to be aware of. There can be positives in negatives. Obviously, Triton would have preferred a release before Christmas so why can't they say why there was the further necessary delay?
Please stay on the Forum, to help many who read anything up to 100 or more posts for every contribution they chose to make and develop a thicker skin for the occasions when others need to vent spleen and you are the only possible excuse they can find. Think of the number of kicked dogs you have saved!!!!!!!!!CJ

Eagle,
I echo CJ's comments, and hope you continue to give an insight to the happenings at both Triton and GMC, even if its not always favourable to all. Your input is important and valued, as are all inputs.

Stick around eagle,
Just because Ian got his knickers in a twist, does not mean that your information is not warranted or welcome.
Ian has every right to shop elswhere rather than wait for triton, and I would have thought a quick trip from Shalier park over to Rocklea to Bunnings/Tradetools/Glenfords/Hare and forbes, would have met his needs. Besides a trip to Carbatec may or may not show that what is in the catalogue isn't in the store - Ian you should call as they have been short on stuff lately.
Everyone needs to cool it!
Bye
Felixe.
Keep us posted.

I know very little about the promises made by Triton or GMC however my comments are more general.
I work in an industry constantly introducing new hardware and software. Our manufacturer like other manufacturers projects dates which should be printed on a rubber calendar especially when the project is still on the drawing board. I think some marketing people like to tell the best case story and are of the opinion that bad news stories must be avoided at all costs.
Delays can happen for a variety of reasons however communication is the key - keep your customers informed. Using words like “it will be available on date X” is a statement that if found incorrect will ruffle feathers.
Statements such as “the projected date for release is X” accompanied by an overriding statement indicating that the date will firm up as time progresses whilst not being a confident statement, does reflect the truth and gives credibility to products.
I think this discussion is about the badly timed communication rather than the unfortunate situation of why it isn’t on the shelves at the originally stated time.
I suspect Eagle is not responsible for the original statements however it’s possible he has been left to defend the company. Sure, give him messages to pass back to those who erred but go easy on him – I know what it is like to be in his position but he has the guts to do it.- Wood Borer

Even though I have a closer ear to the ground than many, I find Eagle's insights invaluable, and for one think we all should absolutely value what he has to offer in the way of info.
Obviously he can't reveal everything, commercial-in-confidence and all that, but what he can provide we should be grateful.
If people have a grievance with GMC, take it up with them directly, don't shoot the messengers just because they get their cheques from GMC.
I get payslips from GMC as well for my demonstrating, and I know very little about new product launches etc. You can't assume Eagle is part of the inner sanctum just because he works for them full time. Sure he will hear more, and it is great when he can filter some of that out to us.
Stick around Eagle - anyone gives you sh*t will get it in return from me.
This is not to say that many of the overall views aired above are not legitimate, my comments are referring to posts that have a go at Eagle, knowing he works for GMC, rather than at the company itself."Clear, Ease Springs"

Just for the Triton people prior to the GMC era.
I talked to a former Triton Manager from the UK who said that during the Triton era that on average most products were 12 months late from the stated release date. I cannot dispute these facts but I am sure many Triton products in the early stages were late???
I have no relationship to GMC or Triton just a Triton user

This is what I tried to say 3 weeks ago
Stuart,
It would have been nice if you had pro-actively posted this defense 3 weeks ago when the attacks on Eagle's contributions first began.
I tried, and your position at the time appeared to be the opposite (from my perspective anyway).
Maybe I wasn't as eloquent as I could have been, but it's a shame he had to threaten to leave the forums before people started supporting him.
But I'm glad that we can now agree.
John.

It's a constant juggling act being a mod - sometimes allowing threads to progress despite disagreeing with some of the content. A few years ago I used to be much more reactive to events, and I don't think that was a good thing either.
In this instance, Eagle was managing ok, but got to the point that he felt he had no support, and that's when we reminded him that he did.
Sometimes have to grow a thick skin on these forums, especially if you use Triton!"Clear, Ease Springs"

Everything new on the Triton web site regarding availability is acurate. October released products have arrived. Remember Bunnings does not carry everything! new larger stationary equipement in most cases would be by special order
All other products promoted for 2007 are due 1st qtr . . . fingers crossed. Un fortunately manufacturing is not always an exact science!

I wasn't going to persist with this thread, but I can't help myself.
Woody and Eagle, as far as I am concerned, if you fly with the crows you get shot with the crows.
Woody, you say that everything on the Triton site is accurate. Well I guess that's true, right up to the point where it isn't, and that's what happened at the beginning of this month.
So, I repeat my (edited) question here in the hope that either of you, or somebody, can help me understand - "How can a delay of at least 3 months not be evident until the eve of the advertised release date?
Surley someone in Triton must have been aware of this delay sooner than a couple of days before the deadline, and wouldn't it have been nice to give your potential customers a "heads-up" in a timely manner on their web site??"
As far as I am concerned this is arrogant and just shows a complete disregard for the Customer.
Apparently, according to some posts on this thread, there have been other instances where Triton has failed to meet advertised deadlines in the past, but they pretty much had a captive audience, because apart from the saw and the router, there was no alternative. It's a very different situation when you are competing with your own version of currently available alternatives.
As I said before, I had a predisposition to purchasing the Triton brand to the extent that I delayed a couple of major projects pending the release of the Thicknesser and the Bandsaw, but I'm not going to plan on the basis of a "maybe" and I will probably now purchase an alternative. Had the information been more timely I may just have been prepared to wait, but on the strength of what Woody says is "accurate information" I was all geared up to go this month.
