Default Orbital Sanders whats with speeds ?

Looking for an orbital sander to do a hard wood bench top, looking around today most of them go from 4 to 12000 rpm. the Bosch to 19000 and the Triton gives 1200 to 1900 ? is that right ? seems awfully slow in comparison to the rest of them.
    Hoping for some help

Are you sure you are comparing random orbital sanders with random orbital sanders and not mixing it up with orbital sanders?

12000 and 19000 sounds incredibly excessive.

Festool for example is 300-600 rotary and 3000 - 6000 eccentric (from their festool.com.au site) Not sure which range Triton are referring to, but neither are in the 10000-20000 range.
