Default Router and template guide kit

Just two quick (I hope) questions:
    1) How do I get the plunge spring back in to my router? I can get it close, then the whole thing just bends. Is there a trick to it?

    2) When using the template guides in the router table, is the spacer block supposed to sit proud of the table? Doesn't look right to me, but I have followed the instructions.

    Cheers in advance

    1. there is a black plastic rod that was in the centre of your plunge spring that you would have removed & put aside when you first removed the plunge spring.

Without it, it is impossible! (I've tried!)
With it, it is a piece of cake to return the spring.

    2. The spacer block does not sit proud of the table. It is used between the guide & the router, and raises the TEMPLATE so it is clear of the table. If the spacer is clear of the table, it will muck up the job- unless you want the guide to be that big!

The spacer block is not used when handholding the router.

    Hope that all helps

Thank you for your reply, sorry it took so ,ong for me to get back.
My first problem is that no, after exhaustive searching, there is no black plastic rod from my router. And to be honest, I don't remember pulling one out. Is there something I can substitute it with? Order a replacement?
Second, if I put the spacer block onto my router in the table, it sits about 5 mm above the table. I think it would be simpler just to use the template straight onto the plate. Everything is set up right, I have checked again and again. The template guides sit high enough above the table to not bother with the spacer block

Talk to Triton- they have been asked about this on numerous occasions. The black rod would have been there- in fact, it was still inside the area where the spring goes! I left mine in there for safe keeping & completely forgot about it. When it came time to replace the spring, I had no idea that I had even "lost it" Triton gave me a replacement, and suggested I look there, and sure enough, I now have 2 plastic rods!

Could you take a photo of your router setup, especially how it is mounted to the plate, as I have no idea how you have managed to get the router mounted so high that the spacer is not required. A trick I'd like to learn!

Course, if you have it set so that for whatever reason you don't need the spacer to use the template guides, more power to you!

    Good work, thanks Stuart.
Looked where you and Triton said, and guess what.... A black plastic rod. Spring went in a treat. Thanks mate.
As for the template kit, I cant see what Ive done that could be wrong, but it doesnt matter anyways. Works just fine without the spacer. I dont have a digital camera, but if I can borrow one I will show you my setup. Maybe there is something glaringly obvious lol. Thanks again
