I think is similar. It uses a 2 prong wrench like angle grinder wrench to hold shaft while undoing nut clockwise (LHT) using a standard spanner. That would be my best guess, as all the ones I have used have a spindle lock, usually between the motor & guard, or a flat machined on the shaft to take a spanner.

could i get the tool from bunnings? I've tried the spindle for a 9inch angle grinder, 6inch buffer, normal angle grinder. none of them seem to fit. thats for the help. stupid me was turning anti-clockwise like a regular nut. why is it clockwise haha

The thread would be made to self tighten. You can get adjustable or universal angle grinder wrench / key / spanner from most hardware stores including the big green shed.

You could try a couple of descent size nails at the correct spacing through a block of wood as a quick test (drilling the holes for accuracy). Just use suitable size nails and grind or saw off the points to give best contact with the holes and leave enough space to fit your spanner in-between. Might work and save you $10.

I lost that special tool that held the washer.

So I put a block of wood under the blade and held the handle down and undid the nut with a standard ring spanner.

The blade wants to turn clockwise and thus digs into the wood holding it from turning.

I agree with Bleeder. Just put your block of wood on the other side of the blade when you want to tighten it again.
