    Default respirator

    Hi Triton people,
I have a older model triton respirator and I understand that there is a upgrade kit for it.Several months ago I emailed Triton to get my hands on a upgrade kit but have never had a reply.
Can anyone advice where to get a upgrade kit from or is it not necessary and not worth the worry to chase one.
    Regards terry

    Hi Terry,

The upgrade fundamentally was to get rid of the original, rather inflexible hose. It was also converted to be a screw fitting at either end (for some reason they didn't adopt my mod

If you are happy with how the respirator is working for you - in as much as putting it on, taking it off etc, then no, the mod isn't necessary.

    There are 2 options.
    1. You can try calling GMC on 1300 880 001 and see if that line of communication works better, or

    2. Wait a couple of months, when Triton service is likely to return to Cheltenham (to the Triton factory), and try then. (Why is that a benefit? Because you will be dealing with people dedicated to providing customer service just for Triton products, and not the entire range of GMC as well, and therefore will in all likelyhood, be a lot more knowledgeable. Triton customer service use to be superb - hopefully there is going to be a return to those days!) I've found GMC service to be good, but I haven't had to deal with it for Triton products.

This is not an invitation to all and sundry to jump on the "kick triton / gmc customer service bandwagon" again.

Took me some time - didn't know where I put it!

    Post no. 22 and 23.

It is the mod I came up with for a quick release that a lot of people swore by.

Alright- have come up with a solution that works, is easy to implement, and best of all is really cheap.

Headed to the plumbing section in Bunnies, and simply bought 2 connectors that fitted into each other. I then duct taped them into position, and applied a bit of lubricant (not oil!) so they slide apart a bit easier. Decided not to sand the fit, as I reasoned I wouldn't be able to get the finish smooth enough not to end up with the connectors jambed together permenantly.

Now, helmet can be taken on and off as needed, and you are left wearing the belt pack. And the mod has made no changes to the original design so this mod can be removed at a later stage if desired.
