    Default Respirator charger

During our recent move the charger for the Triton respirator has been lost. It is now that I realise that I really never took any notice of the charger, and the manual does not say anything about it. My question is, can any 9V charger be used providing it is not a quick charger?

I am using one of those Dick Smith chargers with the variable voltage. Just set it to the voltage and switched it on.

If you use a adjustable voltage plug pack, Beware some plug packs have a plug on the end of the cable that you can change the polarity of the plug make sure that the polarity is correct for your unit. I think the inner pin is positive on the plug on the Triton mask but please check.

Thanks Hugh. I have just confirmed that the centre pin was positive but was not sure of the voltage required. Your pic has cleared this up.

I probley have something in my junk box if you would like me to have a look.

Friends of ours have a house at Laurieton & they were here 3 weeks ago, I could have given them one to take back for you.

Just had a quick look, I have a couple that are close, one is 9VDC 350MA & the other is 9VDC 1A.

Both should work, the 350MA one would charge a bit slower & the 1A one would charge it faster but may end up cooking it.

Thanks for the offer Cliff. I have it on charging at the moment. I forgot to check the current out. The one I am using is 1000ma so will soon know if it is going to cook it or not. Will check the o/p of another one I have.

    Hi

I took mine to Battery World sometime ago. They replaced the batteries which improved the storage capacity/ charge time and gave me a better charging device - works great, more efficient than the original unit!

    Worth a thought!
