Router variable speed
I have a Hitachi M12V with a broken variable speed switch. After being quoted £75 for a replacement switch (a third of the price of a new router) I decided to investigate the use of a separate/external variable speed switch. This would also be handy as it would mean that the switch could be mounted close at hand for quick adjustment.
I have looked for a suitable switch (in the UK) but I have not had any luck.
Does anyone know where to source such a thing?

Smiffy,
What your after is a speed controller
see
http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.st...uct/View/K3087
this is in Australia, but i dare say there should be something in the UK. DO a search on the bulliten board and you'll see other comments about the speed controllers for routers.

You will need to type K3087 in the DSE search box.
This is a kit and some experience in electronics assembly is required.
This speed controller works quite well, I have used it on a Makita 3612 router.
