RSA 300 Router Stand
I purchases a Triton Workcentre MK 3 and a Router & JigsawTable about 15 years ago. I used them for a few small projects initially and then they retired for 12 years. I am now restarting my interest in woodworking - yes, you guessed it - I am approaching retirement. My questions are
1. Will the RSA 300 Router Stand work with my original Router Table?
2. I am thinking of buying a Triton Router and reading some of the threads would suggest that this is great for an undertable router. Could I adapt my original to work with the Triton Router and the winder handle plunge adjustment or would I need the newer router top?
3. Would it be better to build a router table so I could use an Incra Jig system?
Any advice welcome.

Welcome back to woodworking
Cannot help you with the first two directly, but can certainly answer the last one (which might by default answer the others )
I did have a triton router table (with the big triton router in it) and yep it was ok, not super accurate but it did the job. Then I bought an incra ultra fence package and there was no way that it was going to fit. Plus when you are talking about this kind of accuracy, you need a dead flat table that pressed metal just cannot do.
My solution, get an engineered router table and router plate from Grahame (professional woodwork supplies) in melb. The shipping wasn't too exey and it's worked a treat. The newer plates now come all pre-drilled for the big triton routers too which makes it even easier.
Ciao,
M.

I have owned a succession of Triton router tables from the Mk3, 2000 Series and then the RTA300. I have never been very satisfied with any of them, but they have done the job.
When I started getting interested in more accurate work, dovetailed boxes, finger joints etc, I decided to build my own router table. After doing lots of searches on this forum, as well as on the internet and in books, I came up with this.
I have to say that I wouldn't change a thing, very happy with the Incra LS17 and especially the Wonderfence. I can do things with this setup that I could only dream of with my Triton router table, which I am now selling.

The reverse is true, so I'm pretty sure that it will. For total confirmation, email Triton through their website at http://www.triton.com.au/contact.php and it will be answered, probably by Gordon (Triton, as opposed to GMC)
It will be adaptable - possible solution here
The mounting plate on the right
which is the new mounting plate for the Triton router, can be purchased from Triton Spares, (not sure what they cost now - the last one I bought was under $10) and replaces all the holddowns etc that came with the older tables (so long as you are using a Triton router)
As the the winder - I'd strongly suggest going with the 2400W Triton - it doesn't have the through table winder, but is a beast for table work. See my post in my blog on the 6th August which talks about router lifts and the Triton router, but also covers why I don't think through-table height adjustment of the Triton router is important (or really desirable).
If you are getting an Incra, then custom-building a table to suit is a better solution - I have looked long and hard at the Incra as to how to get it to match a Triton table, and concluded that you end up with way too many compromises trying to marry the two. You could always abandon the Triton top (eBay) and just go with the Router Stand, and add one of Grahame's tables on top, or Big Shed's version which looks a million bucks. (And I am VERY envious - wish I had time to seal some of the ideas!)"Clear, Ease Springs"

Thanks guys for the great information. Most impressed Big Shed. It would be great to have the skill to build such a fantastic router table. I probably need to crawl before I walk but hope I can develop those skills.https://www.woodworkforums.com/images.../2thumbsup.gif
Martink, I have emailed Grahame for some info on his tables/fences etc. Thanks.
Good blog Stuart, advice much appreciated.

Thanks
Thanks guys for your replies. They were all very helpful. Great router table Big Shead. Hope I might reach that standard one day. Your blog was very interesting and I think I can forget about the above table adjustment. I have emailed Grahame, Martink.
Thanks again.

What about using Leigh D4R jig
Hi,
I have just purchased the TRA001 router and am also getting the Leigh D4R jig. Would the triton stand and table be ok with this, or should I try something else?
PS I am a total woodwork newbie.
Thanks

The Leigh just needs to be clamped to a solid table or workbench. So you can do what I always do (throw whatever benchtop tool I want to use on top of the workcentre), but you are not actually buying the Triton top & stand for this.
However, you do want the top and stand for table-mounting your router for all the other jobs - especially that beast"Clear, Ease Springs"
