How does it work? I cant telll by looking at that pic. Cant be good with the blade exposed like that with no guard or safety features.

1/4 horse motor thinking that would probably stall halfway trough your first finger. Doesn't look as if it has been tried in its new configuration as there appears to be no blade slot in the bench. Give GMC a few years and all triton gear will look like that

Is it even a real picture??
Where is the rear left leg?
The front aluminium extrusion seems to end in mid-air.
The rear brickwork looks like a computer generated wallpaper. You can "see" it through the left endplate.
Looks like an amateur photoshop to me. Should set the alarm bells ringing.
By "mains motor", do you reckon he means induction motor? Isn't 1/4hp about 200watts?
If it's genuine, I wouldn't mind some more detailed photos of what he's done.

You're right John - a seriously bad photoshop job. It's more like one of those impossible boxes.

Maybe SS did find a use for a washing machine motor after all.

The picture is certainly a stuff up isn't it. Wonder what he was trying to hide in the background.
doesn't mean it's a con but, it doesn't inspire enough confidence to buy and without a guard like that I'd wonder about his possible liability if someone removed a finger with the thing. After all he is selling it publicly.
Also why isn't the drive belt tensioned up, all very odd.
Who ever it is does have a good reputation, 194 sales with 99% positive feed back isn't bad at all. Pretty much all the past sales have been in electronic and computer peripherals mind you.
For so many reasons I will not be buying it
Cheers
Dave

Given that delivery is by pickup only (no postage), I think the chances of fraud are pretty small. At least you will get to inspect it before you hand your money over. If he has misrepresented the item (despite the dodgy photo) then you would just walk away. If nothing else, you get a Mk3 carcass for $150.

True, but there is no harm in flagging it with eBay - they can cast their eye over it, and with their experience etc decide if there is a problem. If not, the seller won't even know, so I don't see a problem.
If, downtrack, the item does sell (god help the buyer), and it becomes a dispute, then eBay already has a record that it was noted as being a potential issue, and means the poor buyer is more likely to receive eBay support in the resolution."Clear, Ease Springs"

Forget the photoshop. It should be flagged because it looks downright dangerous.
It's one thing building a table saw without a guard for yourself. I've mounted my power saw upside down in a sheet of ply, sitting on saw horses many a time, and I've put a circular saw blade in a 9" grinder before, but I wouldn't flog off a home made death trap to a member of the public.
I'd say there would be some law against it, and the seller may be in some legal trouble if a buyer has an accident with it.
It's just plain idiocy.
Before you all chime in, yeh I know I'm an idiot as well, but I'm careful, and I'm only endangering myself.
