Default Saw Slide Chassis Upgrade question

I inherited a Mk3 from my father. It has a Ryobi W-840C 235mm circular saw and a Makita 3600BR router. The table itself isn't in great condition - someone managed to put a 30cm cut through it with a power saw, so it has a bit of a bend on one end. If I get serious it will be upgraded or replaced.

I went to a Triton course at the local Canberra Institute of Technology to find out how to use it properly. I came away seriously impressed with the safety features on the 2000, and I suspect I'll upgrade in the near future just for those features (once I'm sure it isn't just a passing fancy).

I really liked the blade height adjustment kit. I tried adjusting the Ryobi blade and I had to adjust both the stability mount and the blade height knob (sorry, I don't know the correct terms). I've read some of the other postings here, and I understand that all I need to get the same functionality on a MK3 is to fit the Saw Slide Chassis Upgrade and the Blade Height Adjuster.

Is the Saw Slide Chassis Upgrade needed to fit the Blade Height Adjuster to a workcentre 2000? If it is, it will be my first upgrade to the MK3 because I can transfer it to the 2000 later.

Also, does anyone have any opinion on the Ryobi W-840C circular saw? I won't be removing it from the frame.

    Thanks

    James

No it is not needed. The slide chassis upgrade for the MK3 replaces the old one with the one that is standard for the WC2000. If you are going to do the saw slide chassis upgrade for the MK3 and then get a WC2000 then you have wasted about $ 50.

closer to $100 for the chassis upgrade and the winder (2 parts)

Winder is also standard with the 2000 at bunnings.

Yes but it was part of the special package that Triton made for Bunnings so that they didn't have to price match the WC as other stores and competitors didn't have that same package.

With the uncertainty of Bunnings and Triton you will have problems getting the Bunnings EV package.
