A Store Stocking Benchtop Triton
Yes - such an animal does exist! I've been told that Hardy's Mitre 10 in Pakenham either has (or soon will - in the next week or so - ring to check if you plan on making a long trip) the full range of Triton benchtop tools on display. Sharpener, Sanders, Thicknessers etc.
Some other stores may also do so in coming months - will let you know as I hear, but kudos to Hardy's!"Clear, Ease Springs"

Hi Stu,
I have being talking with the Tool shop manager (at M10 Pakenham) for the past 6 months about stocking more triton gear and he said that he would be pleased to, they are making a lot more space available, did I mention that he used to work for GMC and they had a massive GMC expo this year lots of bargains.
He has ordered and should have in now the Triton sharpening system and the MOF template and height winder set.
They did sell out of 6 sharpening ssytems recently.

As was pointed out in another thread - as much as loosing Bunnings as a retailer might be a real blow, I can't think of a better way than this to come out in the next round punching away again!
Then if they really start doing sales and spares via the web as well, they'll get some sizable blows in as well in the rounds after that.
Retail is a punching match isn't it?
BTW, check out the new GMC 180mm planer - it's bloody awesome, and if that sort of tool is the next level GMC is moving to, then their other new products will be worth a gander. This one probably should have been Triton orange."Clear, Ease Springs"

I'm more impressed with the prototype capacitor powered cordless driver they showed at one of the US Wood Shows - maybe GMC also need to look at improving their web presence with things like that.

Not that I've heard, but the Bunnings move hadn't been made then, so think effort is going into shoring up the traditional channels before pushing new ones. Still think it is a possibility, but you need to come from a stable point before trying new innovations - you risk diluting your efforts otherwise.

If you want Triton gear - anything that is in the current catalog as well as parts, speak to Gary at Paul's Mid City Hardware in Castlereagh St Sydney. They are making fairly regular orders for Triton stuff, they just don't keep much if any on the shelf.

Was at Mitre 10 south Geelong
Was at Mitre 10 south Geelong Yesterday.
They have increased their Triton floor space and have a few things setup for us to play with. They have a few more add on's as well.I noticed kits to put on saws to turn them into disc sanders. An aluminium disk with a few stickon abrasive discs with it.Rpm may be a bit high . Looked OK.Turn your saw bench into a disc sander.Would be better with velcro back but yuo can do that yourself. I wasn't speaking to him ,but a Triton/GMC rep was there at the time And picked up they can do a deal on prices if pushed.Reps shirt has Triton on one side and GMC on the other.Worth a look if you are near geelong. It really sounds like they want to get into this a bit bigger.
I went in to get a furniture scraper ,Marples, if the had any.Yep they had one.Tool section is more up market that it used to be.
You couldnt get in the place for tables of cheap tapes and screwdrivers etc before.
Now has alot of quality gear
