    Default under table dust collection

Yea gods & little fishes its come up again OK I know but in doing searches etc Iam more confused than ever  sheeks thats not hard.)

Anyway I cannot afford a dedicated dust extraction system and I remember something years ago about boxes mounted under the table and then being sucked out that way. I have Sturdees bucket for the top and the velcro bag thingy underneath but still getting dirt/dust. Also the Triton saw has a dust port, how effective would it be putting a hose on that and then to the bucketr:eek: cheers Tonto

Seeing as you have the bag already, my best recommendation would be to provide some positive suction to that. I did it by replacing the removable catch bag with a funnel to my 4" collector

and others have had it working successfully to their dust bucket. One proposal was to take one of those 20l water containers that you see at work places, and cut the top off - makes a great funnel down to about the diameter of the Triton hose.

You could also have suction from the saw itself as you mentioned, but I think you've run out of collection holes in your dust bucket by now!

Whatever you do, make sure the saw has clean air for the motor.

Try Hare & Forbes, or Carbatec, or Woodworking Warehouse. As to bigger vacuums - that's what 4" dust collectors are otherwise known as

The guy Iam thinking of was from around Newcastle ( I think )he had a ply or similar box built around it this must have been sometime 03/04 anybody got a better memory,

Now the Triton saw outlet and hose joiners and hose are all 1.5" (inches) dia and the smallest Y connector is 4" therefore I'd have to use 3 stepped reducers then into the bucket. OR is there a small plumbing Y about 1.5" dia available Tony

Tony, the Triton hose fits perfectly inside a 40mm plumbing pipe. So using the 40 mm fittings and a 40 mm pipe sleeve would work. Or cut off an inch of the hose and take to bunnies or plumbing shop to test fit, maybe 32 mm pressure pipe fittings are the right size, without the need for a sleeve.

40mm is o/s diameter for normal pipe.
32mm is i/s diameter for pressure pipe.

You will find though that the more hoses you have the less suction. I have one of the first type of dust bag. It was a plastic type material that had a hose fitting on the bottom. With that and the overhead collector working there wasn't enough suction and the sawdust collected in the bottom of the bag. Now I just run the overhead collector and put a bucket under the bag, which I shake every now and then to empty.

My saw also has a dust shute and tried connecting a hose direct to it, but still found a lot still bypassed it and went into the bag
