Sorry to correct your impression, Graham, but the magazine was written just after Silverline took over the UK distribution of Triton and before the receivership kicked in. By the time that news broke, it was too late to replace the article, so publication went ahead. Aside from a very small amount of existing stock held by four or five retailers, Triton does not exist in the UK and obtaining stock or spares is just not possible.

Having Hosking and D'Antonio involved in the "recovery" is probably the worst possible thing that could have happened. With their huge debts now mostly written off, where's the incentive for them to do anything but asset-strip and run? Still, what do I know?

I'm looking at the March edition of 'Furniture and Cabinetmaking.' You may be correct. After all you are there! The ad quotes 'Full range' and claims Readers choice in 2009 Taunton tool Guide.

Like most other monthly magazines, the month shown on the cover bears no relation to either the month in which it was written, or offered for sale. Many articles are ready for publication three of four months in advance.

One of the authors belongs to another forum to which I contribute, we also meet regularly at trade shows, etc. and I stand by my reply, Graham.

Doesn't really matter what the poll results are. It was started with the false premise that GMC and Triton were now completely separate companies. If one of the companies disappears or is sold off, then maybe the question can be raised again.

The poll is indicative. With many of the view that we should wait and see the outcome of the new acquisition. The consortium may yet striop the company and divide it into two streams.

I do not see any advantage in knowing who voted which way unless you intend to harass or vilify those that votes against your point of view. It would be interesting to poll Triton owners to see if they want to be associated with GMC. Maybe the market research is telling them something.

The more I consider it the more I believe Triton would be well place to become a direct sales online line provider. The Mike Dell of power tools.

The thread title is...Should GMC be removed from the Forum Title.
Until the powers that be decide what happens to GMC or Triton, the answer is irrelevant.

Guys I understand some of your comments BUT GMC is dead in the water. It does not exist and it will not be resurrected (Certainly not before or after Easter) But GMC tools still exist and in abundance.

Triton will be. Triton is and should be a considered a brand unto its own. I am not suggesting that GMC be axed I am just suggesting that Triton and GMC be seperated and made into two distinct forum discussion areas, pretty much the same way that Festool and other products have their own discussion space.

Yes personally I am not interested in GMC hardware. Ozimito has out done them already. There is no market place left for them. They are like Wooleys and Voxals no longer made but still around.

There is no logic in keeping Triton and GMC together anymore. No point in waiting in order to start the discussion on the forum's structure. I can not see in a month of Sundays any chance of GMC and Triton relationship reuniting. They are already two separate companies according to the ASIC documentation and reports on this forum.

WHY KEEP THEM TOGETHER. Because they were at one time, and until such time as the outcome is positively known shall be.

Its like keeping the husband and wife in the same bed even though they are divorced and one a corpse.

The name will be changed when and if Neil decides to do it and not before.

Guys your stating the obvious. I still think that that the Triton GMC marriage was a marriage set to fail and the divorce is welcomed. I can not see GMC making a comeback and If Triton can get there service model back on line (Direct sales would be the quickest way to achieve that) then Triton will hopefully survive. Innovation and good design is a good basis for survival.

Of course the powers that be make the final decision.
