TRA001 height winder conversion
Hi guys,
I've just converted my TRA001 Router (2400w) to the MOF001 (1400w) Router height winder. I have both routers and by using Rayintheuk dismantiling guide and making some comparisons with the two micro winder systems and some drilling, I've now got the MOF001 height winder in my TRA001 router. I can now use the height winder in my router table. I've only done some preliminary testing before full assembly but it works by screwing the micro winder OK. I'll have some pics soon and some instructions on how to do it if you want them after I've done more testing. I did this because I wanted the bigger router in my router table and the smaller router as a plunge router that does not need through the table height adjustment. See Ray, if you tell an aussie it can't be done, then it's just because you poms are too lazy to work it out.

I'm delighted that you've managed to cobble something together that works and look forward to the WIP pictures and instructions.

PWS have an aftermarket thingy that acomplishes the same thing, and it's not unreasonably priced.

I think you'll find that Damian is talking about the Router Raizer at $108.75

Your right Ray, but I just had to have a dig. Pics and instructions over weekend. So far works like a jem. I know I can get one from PWS but why not use what I've got as the height winder for the MOF001 is just sitting around doing nothing now I got the TRA001. Anyhow with the PWS riser you still have to do some alterations.

If you have the 2400w TRA001 router,-- the template guide kit with the winder wont work as a winder for you.You need the micro adjuster gear from the MOF001 as well.and some work.
So you would need both routers and the template kit.I think it is cheaper to use the Router Raizer at $108.75 unless you have both routers and want to pull parts out of the small one My rant for the dayBack To Car Building & All The Sawdust.

Pics and instructions
Let's get it straight. You don't need the MOF001 router to do this mod if you can order the parts required when Eagle gets his web site up and running as he may have the Triton parts. Second this mod is easy to do and takes about an hour and works very well, the PWS takes about 2.5 hours according to Don on the PWS web site. The template guids do fit the TRA using the metal plate that comes with the template guides kit with the height winder handle, and remember it's the height winder handle you want in this case. I have a TRA base plate for the template guides free pus cost of post to the first to PM me.
I'm happy with this mod and saved at least $60, however, $108.75 is a good price for an all metal height winder. I only did this mod as I don't use the MOF in my router table and I use my MOF for hand held punge routing only. I considedred this mod as I use to have the MOF in my router table but now I've got the TRA I miss the height winder soooooo much I just had to do something before I parted with money to PWS.
I have attached some phots and instructions for you to follow.
The first pic is the small hole to be drilled.
The second is the large hole to be drilled.
The next is the hole looking from the inside.
The next is hole for the Allen screw.
The next is the Allen screw and arc inplace.
The next 2 are the assembled worm drive awaiting the micro knob.
The last is the height winder on the T-Bar for use.
A word document is attached with instructions. enjoy.

Hi Ray
What a wonderfull description and pictures ! is it possible to download the file to put into my selection of tritom manuals and parts lists and diagrams as a hard copy I can refer to at the work bench instead of having to run upstairs all the time to access my computer ( which is usually being used for kids uni assignments or online games etc.)
