Trition 235mm 60TCT Circular Saw Blade for $21
Hi,
I just wandered over to toys4theboys on ebay and noticed the TRITON Premium 235mm x 60TCT Circular Saw Blade was selling for $21 plus $7 postage (will combine postage for multiple purchases).
They also had:
24 Tooth Triple Cut: $16.50
36 Tooth Triple Cut: $18.00
40 Tooth Premium: $18.00
$21 seems like a pretty good price - I think Bunnies had them for about $80-90.
Do these blades rate well? I have the original 40tooth in the 235mm Triton saw and it seems OK but I haven't cut a lot with it yet (only owned it for a couple of weeks).
Also, is there any difference between the 'Triple Cut' ones and the 'Premium' ones?
Cheers,
Dave...but together with the coffee civility flowed back into him

I got the triple cut the other week for $25.
As with everything it depends on what your doing. I bought 3 91/4 chinese blades on the w/e because I'm ripping old fence rails at the moment and destroyed my $18 20T irwin last weekend. At the other end of the scale you can use a circular saw as a jointer/thicknesser if you set up carefully and the 60T blades are sweet for that.
The triple cut is supposed to give a cleaner bottom on the cut I believe, I suspect the difference is marginal. Any quality 60T blade is a wonderful thing and $21 pp is stupidly cheap. I've been watching because I intend to stock up before they are all gone, you spotted them before me. Thanks for the heads up.
60T blades also generally last longer, although the difference is marginal when nails are involved
I can't see the point in a 24T triple cut but perhaps others here know better ?
60T blades are usually about $80 so that prices is tremendous. They are consumables so stock up. Personally I'd go 60T quality and 20T cheap, but that's how I use my blades...

At those prices it is not worth getting them sharpened.

I just had a look. The 24T triple cut at $11 is another bargain.
To put this in perspective I just bought a 3 pack of chinese blades for $22, $7 each. The teeth aren't even at a constant diameter, absolute rubbish like the $20 blades in super cheap which are almost unusable. I knew what I was buying and they are specifically for timber with nails, but the 24T triton is a decent blade for $11! And that would be an excellant blade for ripping.
The intermediate blades are nice for crosscutting and general work, but I find I mostly use ripping and fine blades. That's me though. I have an unnatural relationship with my circular saw...
Mine never get sharpened. When they start to go I relegate them to sacrificial duties...
I'm just working out how many of each I want.Last edited by damian; 12th June 2008 at 11:41 AM. Reason: spelling
