Default Trition Respirator - retrofit hose connectors

I noticed this post in a newsgroup (from a USA user), has anyone here obtained and tested the described retrofit? :
"Well Triton was true to their word. They have responded positively to
customer feedback and redesigned the air hose and connectors for the
Triton Powered Respirator. The new retrofit kit arrived the other day
and "wow" … what a difference. The hose is flexible which makes the
unit so much more comfortable to wear (no more helmet movement caused
by the stiff hose). The new connectors and fitting are also great.
The pressure-fit connection has been replaced by a half turn threaded
fitting at both ends (so much easier to connect and disconnect).

It is really nice to see a company respond to favourably and quickly
to customer feedback. Kudos to Triton!"

    Nope.

I just use Stewart Lees' mod on mine.

    Sounds like a goodness though.

    Question

Well I'd like to tell you as a result of this post that I emailed Triton to say that I'd heard about their improvement and their response was:

"All current production Triton Powered Respirators now have this new style hose. I believe our service dept. are carrying some spares of this component. For further information please contact them on 1300 655 686".

Must say that I was a bit disappointed that there was not even an inclination that a customer was not happy with their product, nor was there any offer to be able to positively buy it

Stuart - you may offer some explanation but given that you have, I assume, provided positive input, why have we in Australia not been given wide information as owners and users

Okay enough of the criticism - when and where can I get it????

bought the respirator yesterday, it does come with threaded connectors and a really flexible hose... I just wonder though how long the hose will last, it looks like it could be easily torn...

    Thumbs up

Sorry, mates. This is old news. These improvements were shown at the WWW show in Melbourne, and reported in THE TRITON WOODWORKER.

See Stuart's article on page one, and photo on page five.

    Angry

Thanks for your informative response Woodchuck

Living on the Gold Coast I wasn't quite financial enough to attend the Melbourne Working With Wood show.

Unless I happen to see Stuarts post in the new posts columns ( which incidentally get cleared on me at times for no apparent reason ) then the Triton Woodworker is a publication I rarely see. A bit like the Triton Times which also appears randomly in the mail. Got one today actually  haven't seen one for - I don't know how long. Looked at your URL too and nice pretty pic but not anything on price or availability

I would have thought that there might have been a marketing push to see if they could sell a few to existing owners, after all, they were the ones to complain enough to get them to consider and act on the modification anyway. Actually seeing we bought a product deemed to be needing improvement you would think we would be offered the kit at a bit of a discount - or FREE

I guess I was expecting too much from the Orange Factory

Still with their excellent distribution strategies - Bunnings et al - it won't be long before they'll be on the $1:00 table out front there coz nobody knew they were available and Triton will want these retail gurus (who are flat out keeping toilet paper in the staff dunnies) to clear their slow moving stock.

See it's so much easier to find a hobby horse to climb on

    Default modifaction upgrade to respirator

I would be pleased to hear price and source of modification for the Triton respirator. I purchased my model at Bunnings this year when on holiday in Australia. (Still not available in the UK. for sale????) I might need to ask a favour

No probs sending one over John.........if we can find out if they are available or not. I haven't called Triton yet but maybe somebody here will.
