Default Where can I get Triton 15" thicknesser blades

Hi folks out there in Woodworking land. Just enquiry for those Triton buffs. I have a 15" triton thicknesser & am looking to get some new blades. I was wondering if anyone out there has this thicknesser & have they been able to get replacement blades for them? Carbatec only handle the international products like routers, saws & workcentres, they don't handle what were the spare parts for the Australian domestic market (which the thicknessers were). So I am trying to see if anyone has been able to get blades or if they have successfully had an old pair re-sharpened, or if they have found another product that will suit?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.<O

I'd take your blades to a local saw doctor who should be able to mill new tungsten blades for you.
I make things, I just take a long time.

    Default 15" Thicknesser Blades

I asked this same question of the Triton rep at carbatec and have not received a reply. Before GMC went under I was informed that the thicknesser was a rebadged generic brand, and that it used the same as a particular model stocked by carbatec. Unfortunately I can't remember which.

    Default Thanks Waldo & Morbius

Thanks to those who responded. Morbius, the thicknesser that you are talking about @ Cabatec, they no longer supply. So no luck there. I might try Stue's shed as I know Stue use to do demo's for Triton. He may have some more info

    Thanks folks.

Grizzly in US do a rebadge of the unit and had the blades listed as spares a while ago, plus a full range of moulding blades to suit as well. Either would not ship to OZ or had a high minimum order value for foreign shipping, not sure which. Could get around this by having Price USA buy on your behalf and ship to you.

Certainly viable to get new ones made by a saw doc, may be possible also to get the originals touched up of they are not located on pins or similar under the clamp bolts.

Have the same machine but haven't used it enough to date to touch the blades. Had a set of three 6 inch blades reground about a month ago for $15, needed a lot of work due to condition when I bought the machine they were in. My saw doc can do up to about 25in on his machine and can do HSS or Carbide, so if 20 thou off the blades won't affect setup/mounting then touching up the originals should be viable on similar machines.

Default Pavlos & the TRITON-TPT-55 15" thicknesser" thicknesser blades update.

Hi, anyone who is interested in the triton 15” thicknesser & where to get blades for this unit. I posted a thread a little while ago asking for any information about getting some replacement blades & parts. It appeared that no one from WWF knew any inside information. So, I sent an email to Stu at Stu’s shed & got some really helpful info (the reason for emailing him, is that I saw him demo this machine in Ballarat at the Ballarat woodworking guilds woodworking show & this demo was the bases for my purchase). Stu got back to me with two options.

    1. Was to try Carbatec in New Zealand, as they had bought up big in Triton parts & accessories just prior to the receivers moving in (bad for them good for us). They had nine sets of blades available at NZ$89.00, freight will be NZ$12. 00.

    2. Was to go to Grizzly Industries in the U.S. They sell a rebadged version of the TRITON-TPT-55 15" thicknesser. The Grizzly G0477 moulder/planner. It is exactly the same machine. $44.00 U.S $48.40 AUS per set of blades.

After looking at the Grizzly website & very closely inspecting the catalogue I decided to buy the blades from the States. The only thing that you have to be aware of is that Grizzly has a $200 U.S spend limit for international purchases & that they don’t use credit cards, you have to use Western union (most expensive choice) or Pal Pay . Pay pal was easy to set up an account on line & linked to my credit card, so my credit card details were protected (my local Postie gave me good advice about this). I got five sets of blades & a couple of the dust extraction fans (I found out from Stu that the fan blowers have a tendency to break fins off, making the unit run unbalanced).
If you are after one set of blades N.Z would be the better choice. The postage from the states is done in three levels. Level one being the most expensive, but the safest & quickest (three working days). Level two not as expensive by about $10. Equally as safe, but 5 to 7 working days & the Third level is the cheapest, but slowest & in Grizzly’s opinion the most unreliable (three weeks & if lost they cannot do anything for 90 days). Not really an option.

    So the wash up was;

$242AUS for 5 sets of the blades.

    $12.50AUS for two fans.

    Postage from the states $110AUS

    TOTAL $364.50AUS

If I had bought the five sets from N.Z the price alone for the blades would have been around the $400AUS mark. No postage & I couldn’t get replacement fans
Hope this thread helps someone out there?

What you need is a contact in the US.
I bought a new fan for my machine from Grizzly. Paying for it was easy but I got the same minimum order $200 to ship international spiel.
I have a friend who lives in California so as a work around I gave Grizzly his postal address and he forwarded it on to me.
A bit of a muck around but it got here and I did not have to spend $200+ on stuff that I do not really need.
If you think that you are to small to make a difference, try going to sleep with a mosquito.

    Talking Friends in the US...

Since I lack social skills, finding a friend anywhere, let a lone the US is an issue for me

I would highly recommend a company called MyUS.com, who can provide you with a US shipping address, and offer terrific rates. I have dealt with them many times, and recommend them over similar companies, such as BongoUS.
