Triton 2400W router
I bought a new 2400W router earlier this year. It went ok for a while and then suddenly and inexplicably stopped - mid job. The authorised service agent diagnosed "open fields" and Triton replaced the router. I mounted the replacement in my router table and did a couple of test runs. Everything was ok. Went away on holiday for a month and soon after returning switched on the router. No response. I haven't yet taken it to the servicing agent but it looks very much like the same "open fields" problem, or possibly a faulty switch. As the supplier (Carbatec) told me they had never before had an electrical problem with a Triton 2400W router, I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. Or am I just that unlucky?

tomatyr,
I have had my Triton Router for about 4 years and have only had a problem like that once about 2 years ago. I just blew out the dust around the switch and air inlets (I used a compressor) and all was fixed. Give that a try but it seems strange that it should happen to yours after only a short time. Is there a lot of dust buildup on the router? What were you routing prior to it stopping?

Hi Skot, on the first occasion I did give the router a good clean up - to no avail, but then it wouldn't have done any good as it was later established that the problem was open fields. The new router has hardly been used at all, so I shouldn't think dust would be the problem.

I'm not saying that you did stall it, Keith, because I know nothing about for what and how you use it, but that would be the first question I'd ask if I were trying to solve the issue.

Thank you, Ray. That's useful information that I wasn't aware of. When the original router stopped like the old man's clock it had stalled while I was routing a 25mm dado in a piece of macrocarpa. However, that is not the case with the new replacement router as it has only been used to do a couple of light test runs on edges.
