Triton 5 in 1 Spin Saw
ok i've never owned a Triton tool, i have no idea of the quality of this brand but i was in Bunnings today and they had a Triton Five in One spin saw kit with loads of attachments. It looks like pretty good value but i wanted to know if the actual rotary tool was comparable to any of those in the Dremel range for quality. He told me there was no comparison and that the Triton was probably on a par with Ozito or Ryobi...
even if this is true, the Triton kit has loads of awesome looking gadgets in it... the only thing i'm not sure about is why do they call it a spin saw? is it a bigger device than the average rotary tool and will all my dremel bits be compatible with it?

If its a true triton manufactured tool then it would be great quality. If its a GMC manufactured tool painted orange then its carp and should be left to gather dust...

Spin Saw Sale
Just to let you know I was in Bunnings at Notting Hill (Melbourne) this afternoon and they were selling the Spin Saw for $180. They had 2 there and they told me that they just didn't sell and that Triton were discontinuing them because they couldn't compete with the Dremel!

At $180 it is probably not worth a punt but at 59.95 at Dahlsens it probably is. They released a catalogue today. All sold today but I have one on rain check. It is alot bigger than a dremel but is more like a laminate trimmer with a variety of bases. Takes 1/4 inch and 1/8 inch bits so can be used like a laminate trimmer.
I thought that the flexible shaft handle would be preferable than even a dremel for engraving.
Speed range is 20000-30000rpm. Dremel is 0-about 30000rpm from memory.
Cheers

As I said in another thread saw them in Carba-tec Sydney for $99 last thursday
and no I don't have one - can see a use for them but have a Dremel
and also thought SWMBO would flip too much if I spent another 100 bucks
