Aberdeen
Your dreams won't turn into reality.Unless you do something about it.
Try phoning them and ask the freight price, you may get a surprise.but you maybe a bit late to get money to them.Back To Car Building & All The Sawdust.

Not sure what happened to my post, but it was similar in theme to Aussie's. Give 'em a ring - don't even ask what the freight price will be, just ask if they can take the order and have it delivered to Adelaide (or wherever)

Hey Aussie
Just my typical luck and Libran indecision......
Checked out MIK International stock on Thursday and noticed a couple of big items that would fit nicely in my shed.......
Got out there mid morning Friday for the big SALE by the receivers and found out that the rumour of them having been sold the night before was correct and hence no 50% off bargains
Tied up all day with work - bugga (no internet access there or on the road)
Will just have to hold the money I sort of didn't have in readiness for maybe another bargain day sometime.... fingers crossed......"May your dreams of today

Aberdeen, have a look at Northwood tools. Triton Whetstone $199. http://www.northwoodtools.com.au/pro...pID=1247&cID=4
PLUS - QUOTE "To make this even more attractive, we will discount any TORMEK jigs and accessories by 5% off the web price if ordered at the same time as the TRITON system. You could save considerably more than just the TRITON savings offered."

Why go all that way? $199 is the recommended retail. Or at least is the Bunnies price.

Stu - not a bad idea if I felt like taking a nice ride into the country some time
Just finished watching your video on the Triton wet stone thingy..... quite happy with it..... but does one really need to use the wet stones after or for us more 'mug' users is the finished product sharp enough to use as is ?
Have a few different grade old oil stones down the shed... they still seems quite flat."May your dreams of today

Depends on what you are doing - if it is a chisel of something, it is more than enough.
If it is a HNT Gordon Smoothing plane, you want that baby razor sharp.
Given you can get a mirror finish just off the wheel then buffing wheel, it is sharp enough to shave with. That's pretty good!

The video you just loaded.
I get most of my jolly's from building wooden boats.... the next one has just started at a nice 18' length - retirement / change of lifestyle will most likely result in making anything friends/family might want and possibly a few sheckle making ventures to help feed the habit
Have chisel sets, Makita planer, Durdan Junior joiner (with inbuilt planer) variety of hand planes etc etc.....
With my growing collection of power tools the need for hand operated ones is diminishing day by day. But it is a nice feeling using the trusty old spoke shave!
Do you know how many people under 50 even know what a spoke shave is? .. found that out a couple of years back when asked around the building (350 staff +/-) gave up asking anyone under 50 'cos they looked at me funny. But fortunately one of the older blokes had one left to him by his dad. A really really old Stanley (#5 I think) and it works magically.... You can feel almost part of the wood when you get up that close and personal."May your dreams of today
