hmmm, I think they have missed the point....
Who wants a Triton 2000 when you can get a an actual tablesaw for not too much more...especially when you consider the actual set up costs and 'extras' you need to get triton to be reasonable....
I would have thought they would be looking at some of their power tools and unique products, rather than pressed steel products that are past their used by date.

Arr Spartan but that's where you're wrong!
I was recently in the market for a decent tablesaw and finally made the purchase but about 17 years ago I wanted something versatile that I could pack away as I had nowhere to leave things permanently set up. Now I would never had made many of the things that I have made over the last 17 years and lived in about 5 other locations around the country and done woodworking in as many carports.
While I never regret buying the old MK3, after I got a decent workshop I couldn't wait to move on ... and absolutely loving the next phase of my life
... but without Triton it would have been 17 years of my life wasted and frustrated
There's still definitely a place for Triton ... packed up in the corner of my shed until someone volunteers to take it away to give me a bit more room!Ramps

I agree with Ramps.
I've had a MkIII and router table for about 18 years and they've both been well used.
I don't have a lot of space - my woodworking workshop is the back lawn or in case of rain, the front verandah.
The Triton is packed away on a shelf when not is use, try doing that with a tablesaw! What little space I have is taken up with the lathe and millGeoff

I'm going to agree as well after seeing some of the latest releases on Cool Tools - there is still a market for these sorts of tools!

Guys, I respect your views - no really I do! I have heaps of Triton tools - I used to have the WC2000. My point is that that systems day is done....yes, I know in the day - back when my dad had his MK111 there was no alternative - but today there is....
I did not weep a single tear when my WC2000 was sold and my Jet JTAS 10 Saw with 52" rails arrived.....
Thankfully, I didn't have a Triton Router table - So I could go straight a PWS Engineered top to house my TRA001.
I reckon they should focus on their unique range.....
cheers

So what this means is that I hit the absolute peak in the market for used Orange Stuff when I sold my old MkIII and Router Table etc on eBay two days ago.
Pity I didn't have the same foresight to sell my BHP shares before the bottom dropped out of that market 18 months ago.

Well, congratulations, aren't you just damned lucky..............not everyone has the dollars, the space or the need for gear that is close to either "higher end" gear and/or permanently set up.
Of course you're entitled to your opinions but PLEASE don't presume to impose those opinions the those who aren't as fortunate as yourself

All I can say is without Triton I would not be the woodworker I am today. I am slowly replacing after some 25 years, each of my Triton work pieces with more professional models, but for me Triton will always have a place in my heart for without it many would not have descovered the joy of working with wood. Triton offers a great introduction to wood working, it may not be the very best but it's good enough to make some of the best work I've seen or made my self. Bring on the next generation of Tritoners and we will see another generation working with wood and loving it.
SBPower corrupts, absolute power means we can run a hell of alot of power tools

Personally I think that Tirton is good for someone just starting. I on the other hand am just a baby of 3 years old for Triton stuff. I am using it and that is what matters.

Great to hear things happening with Triton again.
I still consider the WC2000 an excellent choice. Sure you can go and buy a "perfeshunal" table saw etc but you would go a long way to beat the WC2000 for versatility and a woodworker can still get an accurate good quality result if you go about it the right way.
I had a "lateral thinking" moment the other day - Son in Canberra (me in Melbourne) wanted some help with paving. So I packed the little Corolla boot with the workcentre (with my 2nd spare "use it for the rough jobs" table top) and an old reliable robust Skil 91/4" saw with diamond blade (kept the Triton saw away from this job). Up to Canberra to cut pavers. All worked well with a bit of careful guarding, jigs and shielding and appropriate cleanup and service afterwards.
A good alternate result with a well-thought-out Triton product.cheers,
Bosun

Survey of Triton Power Tools!!!
Alright, you asked for it - the surveys now include power tools (3 separate surveys after the original ones - scroll down a bit to find them!)
You will find them on the Triton Survey page here
You wanted these extra surveys so go go go!!!"Clear, Ease Springs"

Hmmmm - you site hates me.
I did the original surveys, but now when I follow the link I now only get the introductory blurb and the comments, but no sign of any of the surveys, either the new one or the results of the old ones. I've tried Firefox & IE, so it shouldn't be a cookie issue.

So wrong it's hilarious. The workcentres still have their place (the second hand market alone tells me how oblivous you are to what people are looking for) as does the router stand.
Great results can be had with both Tritons pressed steel products, it just takes a little more time. I don't think I'd be half as good at getting the most accuracy out of my more refined machinery if I hadn't learnt the tricks of getting the most out of my Triton stuff.
Sure there are now newer products out there but frankly, the machinery that is price comparative to a typical Triton setup is nothing special at all.
Some move on from the Triton and for some it's all they'll ever need. You can't just discount the tools used by others because you've moved on/up to a different range of tools.
