'New' Triton drill press details
I received the Triton e-mail newsletter yesterday, and it mentions that there is a new 'Designed for woodwork' Triton drill press coming.
So: Any of our Triton boys had a look at it? Can they tell us anything about it - is it a 'clone' of either the Jet/Powermatic or Delta variable speed drill presses? Floor or bench mount?
Eager minds ( & bank accounts) need to know.

Only seen it in the cattle dog (2007 edition - which isn't even on their website yet ), so don't know if it is a clone or not.
Benchtop model, 1/2 HP, 500 - 2400 RPM, 16mm keyless chuck, 150mm plunge, table tilt to 45 degrees (cast iron), 36kg, rack & pinion height
Digital speed read-out, speed is varied by a lever on the outside of the unit.
$349 from Bunnings special orders - can be seen in the Special Orders catalogue available at Bunnings tool shop (the one dedicated to Triton)"Clear, Ease Springs"

Think it is - been advertised in a Bunnings special orders catalog so that's a good sign.
Triton's website makes no mention of it at all unfortunately."Clear, Ease Springs"

Sounds like the top half is a 'clone' or close cousin of the Delta unit then, but the Delta & Powermatic/Jet units are floor standing. Price is pretty reasonable tho'.

Bumping this back up the list.
So Stuart, any more news on this one? It's getting close to Xmas etc. & I'd like to get myself one for my birthday
I went into Bunnings Artarmon, and they denied 1) any sort of Triton catalog, and 2) that you could special order anything from Triton thru' them. Any chance of getting the local rep to give them a catalog & a smack around the ears with it?

No further news on the drill, but will put a query in along with the ear-belting request.

Bandsaws are special order
The demonstrators don't have any of the new tools to demo, so a special roving demo is done with all the new tools. I did one recently at Mitre 10 Mega down this way, but there have been, and are others being run around the country."Clear, Ease Springs"

Well, at least its after next pay day
5 days b4 Xmas makes it unlikely that any will be available in Sydney before the New Year - Happy Hogmany? I should make an effort to shuffle stuff round the shed to make room.
