Default New triton saw - dust port problem

    Hello folks,

I bought a new Triton saw (TA235CSL) from Carba-tec yesterday which i'm using with my Mk3 workcentre. I was able to fit the saw to the Mk3 slide chassis (with saw stabilizing bracket) and spent this morning happily cutting pieces for a simple bookcase. The only problem is that the side guard on the chassis obscures the saw's dust port (see pic).

I did a quick search but didn't find any posts about this. I suppose I could trim the edge of the side guard enough to allow a pipe to reach the dust port - has anyone else done this ?

I did see a thread about mounting newer saws on the old chassis where some folks recommended it's much better to get a chassis upgrade kit (via ebay or similar I guess). Does anyone know if the side guard on an upgraded chassis would be a better fit ?

    Any tips much appreciated

    Michael

I'd go ahead and trim the end to suit, Michael. It won't affect the ability of the guard in preventing contact with the spinning blade. Perhaps cover the cut shape with some small-diameter split tubing (screen-washer tubing), to prevent wear on the dust extractor pipe?

The T2000 guard does not have the triangular flap at all, just a 10mm turn up all round, so trim away. You may want to put some paint on the cut edge to stop any chance of future rust.
