    Default Triton buy-out Update

Any news on the planned Triton Buy-out?

It has been months since we were told there would be an announcement soon.

Had the deal gone sour? What were the stumbling blocks and set-backs?

I am still of the view that Triton would have made a Great Direct Buy online company. The Dell of Tools.

I heard rumours of Ryobi buying them, but the tool department guys at work seem to know for sure they are gone now.

GPT Tools in Hume Hwy Campbellfield used to sell their seconds, but that place is now closed.

    Have they moved elsewhere??

The GMC warehouse in Tullamarine is well and truly closed.

    Default GPT Still Open

No - They are still open. I was there today and they had a fair bit of Triton left. I picked up several Multi-stands for $60 each dust collectors and a few other bits and pieces. Just dont ask them any questions . . . . . . they dont know much about Tritons at all.

Apparently they were closed for Greek Easter on the day I was there

I was there today and they say that have plenty of various GMC spares.
Appear to have many containers and pallets of GMC products in the yard behind their 'showroom'

be careful with what you purchase - the last 2 items I purchased were damaged goods, re-packaged and said to be new. They were obviously ex-floor stock, and I didnt see the damage till I got the items home and unpacked them. I will be seeing them during the week to gain an explanation!

For those out in the west, GPT also have an outlet in Laverton.

I went on Sat and there was a lot of GMC gear, mostly garden equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc. Also have some power tools - they were clearing out a small SCMS for $40.

Supposedly it is smaller than the Campbellfield outlet, but still had lots of stuff.

I don't know what you saw, but I took the banged-up, sticky-taped boxes I saw at GPT to be seconds or repaired returns. Some items like the scms looked brand new. Other items like petrol mowers are pretty obvious if they have been used before.

Surely with anything GMC now, it has to be "buyer beware". I would not expect any sort of service or parts, regardless of what the store promises.
