Default Triton Height Winder Chassis Hook for WC2000

    G'day,

Having just migrated a bunch of Triton accessories onto a Workcentre 2000 I've hit a wee stumbling block. The height winder kit (2nd hand) is fitted with a Mk 3 chassis hook, and after faffin around trying to work out how this is supposed to work I pushed the panic button and read the instructions. I am not quite as insane as feared... there is a different chassis hook for the WC2000 which comes with the kit.

I'm wondering if there are any Mk3 users out there that have the height winder kit installed and are willing to relinquish their WC 2000 chassis hook (part # WCA438).

I have asked Carbatec and they say the part is listed as coming into stock in October, but that is by no means a given.

Alternately, some suggestions for a homemade solution are also welcome. This table will only be used in table mode for ripping, never in crosscut mode so there is seldom need to remove the top.

    Cheers

    Ron

As you can see from the picture below:

I scored my chassis top rail to mark the position of the sliding chassis before putting the top on. In the absence of the correct hook (shown), you could always fashion some small hardwood blocks to fit in the chassis rails at each corner of the chassis once it is correctly positioned.

These could be anchored by a screw from the outside of the rail. The hole would need to be clean on the inside for subsequent sliding if required, but it would certaily be an easy and cheap solution.

Thanks for the reply Ray. I'm loathe to put anything into the chassis track rails, but might go and lie under the table and cogitate on how to find a temp fix. If I can put in a spacer to keep it from sliding towards the back and at the same time use a velcro tie or something to stop it sliding forward then we're in business. I'll post back when I've had my Eureka moment...

Height winder kits were supplied with chassis hooks for both the Mark 3 and the 2000, so there should be plenty of spares out there with Mark 3 owners, but they might not want to part with them in case they ever upgrade!

Mk3 hook modified to fit W2000. Cut off a few bits as a temporary solution to the same problem. I have never bothered to chase up a correct one as it works fine.

Just need to be mindful that the notch is not over the round bar so it can spin around as you lower the top. If that happens the top will not fit, or if it spins around enough the top will fit, but not engage the lock. Just a quick check by trying to push it back and forth would solve that though. Another soution to it spinning would be to fit a screw on the underside of the round bar to stop the lock rotating, but still allows the stop to be removed if you ever go to cross cut mode.

Thanks bpj1968, you've made it onto my virtual christmas card "A" list. Should I ever send one sometime in my life you'll be receiving...

But seriously, excellent reply - I'll be giving that a go in the next few days, and will post the results here (unless I totally balls it up and don't want to appear in the hall of shame, LOL).

I really appreciate you taking the time to illustrate with photos too.

    Cheers

No probs, the photos are a case of a picture tells a 1000 words. It was much easier to do that then try and describe
