Triton jigsaw/scroll
Hi,
Haven't been here for a long time mainly because I haven't been into woodworking of recent months.
Nevertheless, I had a need to do some jigsaw work but I find that my you beaut Triton jigsaw seems to wander quite uncontollably - trying to cut a straight line (or at least as near as possible by hand) in 6mm MDF. The blade seems to "bend" to the left and to correct this the machine has to pointed to the right and then, oops, the blade then shoots off to the right needing a reverse corection.
Useing standard T blades firmly fixed into the head and the base flat on the worksurface. Not using too much force to progress the cut either.
Anybody had this problem or perhaps aware of it and what the cause might be? Never really noticed the phenomina before. I put the blade into an old B&D jigsaw and had absolutely no difficulty holding a "straight" course.
Thanks in advance,
Ecna

It sounds to me as if the jigsaw is set in the scroll mode (where the blade can be rotated to any angle relative to the body of the jigsaw)
There is a switch that controls the amount of pendulum motion of the blade, and I think the settings are large amount, medium amount, none, and scrolling mode/ Switching this out of scrolling mode should solve the blade wandering.
I hope I have explained this clearly, and that it is the solution to your problem

Thanks dmolh. Sorry about the time frame at answering.
Tried all of those things - alas it still seems to wander. I shall keep persevering to find the root of the problem.

Hi Ecna.
Most importantly with a jig saw, or any saw. Don't push it.
Hold the saw firmly and comfortably and it will do the work for you.

thanks hooked up,
that could likely be the case too. I shall certainly explore this aspect more intensely. at the time the project involved 12mm mdf though i am not blaming the material for the problem.
thanks for the help.
regards,
Ecna
