Triton JOF-001AUP Fitting Template Guides
The New Triton JOF-001AUP accepts the Triton Template Guides from the Triton Router Accessory Kit (TGA150).
The aim of this thread is to look at how the Template Guides from the Triton Router Accessory Kit attach to the JOF-001AUP in almost the same way as they attach to the Triton MOF-001 Router.
Always read and understand your power tool manual before operating it. Especially the General Safety Rules.

Examining the MOF-001 and JOF-001AUP Base Plates
The MOF and JOF Base Plates are shown in the 1st photo. The most obvious similarity is the cut-outs for the two Triton mounting/attaching bolts. The two most obvious differences are that there are 4 attaching bolts on the MOF and only 3 on the JOF, and the method of access to the micro high adjuster mechanism has changed. On the MOF there is almost a half circle cut from the outside edge of the base plate to allow for the crank to be inserted through the router table top to reach the winder connection on the router (when mounted in a table). On the JOF the winder connection has been placed inside one of the plunge columns. (This is more clearly seen in the 4th photo at the 2 o'clock position.) This means that the height winder crank can be shortened and this is shown in a later photo.
The 2nd photo shows that they have the same outside diameter of the two bases. Note: The 2 bases are stacked on top of each other to show that they are the same outside diameter.
The 3rd photo attempts to highlight the MOF's internal diameter being slightly larger than the JOF by just over 1mm.

Fitting the Guide Plate and centering with the Alignment Bush
The next step is to fit the Guide Plate to the Router Base. This will allow for the template guides to be attached. This step also shows how the template guides are centred in relation to the Router Collet (and hence the cutter.)
Pictures 1 and 2 show how the guide plate is located in the underside of both router's bases plates by moulded tabs fitting into the guide plate's matching notches.
Picture 3 shows the base plate positioned on the router ready for re-attachment with the 3 black bolts. Before re-attachment, check that the Guide Plate is still correctly located by the moulded tabs in the base plate.
Picture 4 shows the 3 Bolts inserted and then backed off by 1/4 of a turn. (This is because the Router Base and Guide Plate need to be centred on the Router Collet.)
Picture 5 shows the router fully plunged and the 1/4" Collet protruding through the Guide Plate. The 2 M4 attachment screws have also been inserted into the Guide Plate. NOTE: Once the 2 M4 screws are inserted into the Guide Plate ALWAYS CHECK to ensure that they are not loose before you switch the Router on. You do not want a loose screw or template guide coming into contact with a spinning router bit. When not using the Template guides it is a good idea to remove the 2 M4 screws and store them with your Template Guides.
Picture 6 shows the Alignment Bush being placed over the Collet and attached to the Guide Plate. Note - once the Alignment Bush is sitting flat on the Guide Plate, it is rotated 90 degrees and the 2 M4 retaining screws are tightened.
Picture 7 shows the completion of this step, with the Guide Plate and Base now firmly centred on the Collet, the 3 Base Plate Bolts are tightened (Lightly as over tightening can distort the base plate).
The Alignment Bush can now be removed and a router bit and template guide attached.

Attaching the Template Guide
After the Guide Plate has been installed it is a simple matter to install a router bit and template guide.
Picture 1 shows the Alignment Bush removed and a 1/4" Triton Router Bit installed. With the Router fully plunged, the Collet is locked. Part of the locking mechanism is visible in this picture to the right of the Collet and under the Guide Plate.
Picture 2 shows the Router Bit "un-plunged" and the 3/8" OD Triton Template Guide attached to the Guide Plate. NOTE: Always make sure that you have sufficient space between the cutter and the inside of the Template Guide.
Pictures 3, 4 & 5 show the Router Bit plunged so that the required amount of the cutter extends beyond the Template Guide. This has been achieved with the micro adjuster.
Pictures 4 & 5 are intended to show the extent to which the template guide extends beyond the Router Base plate. In the case of Triton Template "B" the guide extends 4.3mm beyond the Router Base plate.

Other Information about the Triton JOF-001AUP Router
So that is how the Triton Template Guides are attached to the JOF-001AUP Router.
It should be noted that the "Label B" Template Guide only extends 4.3mm beyond the Router's Base. So I'll need to make templates thicker than say 4.5mm.
The 7 Template Guides that are included in the Triton Router Accessory Kit are the following sizes:
Label - - - O.D. - - - I.D. Bush Length - - - Extends beyond Base plate
A - - - - - - -5/16" - - 1/4" - - - - 7mm - - - - - -4.3mm
B - - - - - - -3/8" - - - 9/32" - - - 7mm - - - - - -4.3mm
C - - - - - - -7/16" - -11/32" - - -8mm - - - - - 5.3mm
D - - - - - - -1/2" - - -13/32" - - -11mm - - - - 8.3mm
E - - - - - - - 5/8" - - - 17/32" - - 15mm - - - - 12.3mm
F - - - - - - - 51/64" - -5/8" - - - -15mm - - - - 12.3mm
G - - - - - - -3/4" - - - 21/32" - - 15mm - - - - 12.3mm
I have tried a 40mm Template guide from another source, and that works well.
Picture 1 shows the other items that are included with the Triton JOF-001AUP Router.
- 1/2" Collet
- 1/4" Collet (missing from picture - in use on Router)
- Extended Base Plate (incorporating Circle Jig)
- Fence
- Wrench
- Table Winder Handle
Picture 2 shows the difference between the MOF table winder handle and the JOF table winder handle. (The JOF is slightly easier to use).
Picture 3 shows the JOF in the shade. I think that it is one cool tool.

Hi,
The alignment bush can be used with brass 'Porter Cable' type guides, which is very useful.
