    Default New triton MK3

    Hi There,

I now have two triton Mk3 work center. One has a bent saw chassis so I picked up a whole MK3 for the price of the replacement part. The new one has had around 5 hours use and barley has a scratch on it. I have a few questions as I am still struggling to get good straight cuts.

    1. The saw chassis on the new one looks slightly bent, will the stabilizer bracket fix this issue?
    2. I now have 3 circular saws, they are all rubbish so I need to purchase a new one, any recommendations? I’m not particularly good and using a circular saw so it will be in the bench 99% of the time. I am also focusing on making cabinets and picture frames.

I know a dedicated table saw would be a lot better however, at this point in my life there is no way I could afford one within the next 2 years ( new old house, baby on the way etc) but I still want to have fun learning to make things!

    Any advice is appreciated

Bent in what way? Have you taken it off the legs and sat it on a flat surface and undone all the bolts to see what happens? When I had mine I used the biggest circular saw I could buy from memory but that was over 30 years ago and the memory ain't what it was.

No as the stabilizer bracket is designed to help balance and keep stable the saw thus reducing slop in the saw blade. With a good saw you won't need this. On mine the saw chassis was slightly bent and I bolted some thin pine to the area not needed by the saw base which fixed it. I needed to alter some clamps slightly to make this all fit.

I bought the Triton 9 1/4 inch saw but prior to that I used a Makita 9 1/4 inch. Both worked well but make sure you get a good blade with 60 TPI for good cuts rather then the one that comes with the saw.

Alignment of the saw to the table is most important and here is the link to how I did it.

    Hope that helps.

    Peter.
