    Default New Triton Owner

    Hi to all.

I have been looking around this forum for a little while now doing a lot of reading as I am wanting to get into woodworking again after initially starting out in my school days.
I was able to find out when and where the Triton Demo was on and went to one last Saturday and was so impressed with the Triton gear that when I got home, spoke to SWMBO and she said "better go and get one then before i change my mind". So a quick duck down to Bunnings and I am now the proud owner of a brand new shining Orange 2000 Workcentre with the Triton Power Saw. Got all the dust extraction stuff, height winding kit and wheels with it also. Took my time setting it all up as required and so far with my test cuts everything is nice 'n true 'n square. For an amateur like me at the entry level into the woodworking scene, these units would have to be the best value for money around.
Now all I need to do is keep saving for all the other odds n ends I'll need, router, router table extension table etcetera etcetera etcetera and the list goes on.
Oh well all I have to do is keep SWMBO happy I spose and over time my workshop will be brimming with the colour Orange.

Thanks for a very informative forum and maybe I will be able to submit a photo of a fine workpiece that I made with my own hands here too in the not too distant future.

    Regards

    BigPete

Welcome to the wonderful world of Orange, Pete.
Just build SWMBO a few tables and a book case or two and its easy to justify the purchase. Definately go for the router and table. They are both awesome. I was lucky enough to win mine in the Triton toy comp. The extension table is also handy, but my workshop isnt big enough, so its strictly for outdoor use for me.
So, good luck with it all, and show us a piece when you are done. I'm sure you will be very happy with your purchases. (The saw is the best on the market I think)

p.s. The radial saw operator at my local Bunnies said "I wouldn't buy a Triton, I've got two saw horses and a saw". Would love to compare his work to mine.....

    Thanks for the welcome,
SWMBO said she is willing to part with some more hard earned $$$'s so I can get some more Orange gear BUT and that is the magic word 'BUT' only when 'she' is ready - so I better set to with those tables, bookshelves, and whatever else tickles her fancy. if I want that router etc.
Maybe if I half finish a few jobs and complain that I need a router etc to finish them off may help.

    Regards

I usually get a few $$ together and start talking about upgrading the poota (she thinks the poota is a waste of $$) then when the timing is right I switch and say well perhaps I could spend it on XYZ woodworking thingy. It works every time.

Please dont show this post to your wives, one of them may know mine.

i have that problem with my Minister for War, Finance and Social Direction too. Check this out!

July 2000 and I get a tax return of almost 4G. Yahoo! Great year that one

then the missus missappropriates most of it!

Come Christmas time she tries to justify it all by producing the purchase:

    2000 Workcentre
    Router kit
    Jigsaw kit
    Bevel guide
    Wheel kit
    Dust bag and bucket
    Plans book and videos

    Dammit!

And she dragged one of my sisters into collaborations with the height adjustment kit.

    Bad Influence this woman!

Rather than repent of her errors, for our wedding anniversary she goes out and get the saw! This is getting to be a habit....

Mid year she snuck in the extension table, talked me into getting the biscuit jointer and rounded that out with a finger jointer!

    Bleedin hell!

Then just as a final act, come birthday time she trots out a bright orange router! God I love this woman!!!

Troubel getting tools? Hell whats that? Of course, thats when she's in control. I'm not allowed into a hardware store without a chaperone. Im not allowed in Computer stores either... Or book shops. Or tackle shops or... Come to think of it, I'm not allowed out of the house with a keycard cash or a credit card unless I'm virtually under armed guard.

    but then, who cares?

Yup, she does! Just about to turn 18, pretty as a picture and blonde, with all the implications!

    Thumbs up

I have (whilst recuperating from major surgery) been collecting my Triton gear - have the 2000 Workbench, Triton 235 mm circular saw, Triton router and router table - all received as a result of the question, 'What do you want for Christmas, your birthday and recently Fathers Day'. I guess I will have to start 'buying' more items myself, at least until next year when, I hope, the questions will start again.
I have now registered for the first of what I hope will be many Triton 'seminars', workshops etc. I have been reading and following the posts in 'Triton Forums' and can't wait to be a 'fully fledged' and operational member.
Thanks in advance for a very helpful and entertaining forum
