Hello everybody.
I know that this thread is outdated a bit, but I just met your forum not long ago. Here in Canada, we can have a refurbished Triton router for 200$ can (approx. 160$US). I have bought one and it looks just like a new one, without the manual. Ususally, a Triton router sells for 400$ can (approx. 320$US). Because of the price, not much canadian woodworker buys this brand and it is a model that just a few tool retailers will show and sell. You can see from yourself the Triton special on this major tool dealer in Montreal: http://www.langevinforest.com/fr/catalog/details.asp?id=00000000000OJ5F&cat=00000000000C2WN
However, with this new price, I noticed that there is a lot of people buying the router (as per a Canadian forum), as if retailers would have a huge stock of these refurbished routers, to a point that we ask ourselves how can we have so much of these refurbished routers here for a product that was not much sold in North America. Maybe these routers are coming from other regions. Do you guys have also access to that deal in Australia
I don’t know if this is a marketing strategy from Triton in order to gain a market place North America, but it seems to work !! A lot of people are buying Triton because of the price and the same customers a doing a lot of advertisement (including forums), because they enjoy their new tool (I am one of them).
Also, I did some research on your forum (by the way, this is a very nice forum…. Congratulations to the administrator)… to check if there is anything I should know about this router (weaknesses, things to be aware of, etc…) but with the quantity of information here, I was swamped with search results. So if someone could inform me concerning this issue, or maybe refer me an old thread on this, it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
(PS: And thank you for your patience… English is not my first language)

Judging by the Civil Service and Tax bumph we get in G.B., there must be a lot of French speaking Canadians writing our literature......(see last bit of previous post if you don't get it...)

Evening everyone,
About 4 weeks ago I bought a new 2000 workcentre at Mitre 10 in Ararat and paid $525 (their best supa-dupa price). A week ago I was in Bunnies in Ballarat who were selling them for $460 and when queried, the sales guy said it was the new everyday price and had been so for about 3 weeks. If only I'd waited a bit longer...... but if my aunty had b**lls she'd be my uncle!!
Has anyone else personally seen the lower price?

Yeah ... Bunnings Mile End has the WC2000 for around $540, Bunnings Kent Town, about 10 minutes away, has had them for $460 for weeks now. Fortunately I looked before leaping

the reson for the price drop is easy. ( from the horses mouth, so to speak) internationaly the sale's are down. so the price comes down to boost sales. simple business really.
