    Default New Triton products

The International Hardware Fair appears to be on over in Germany at the moment, and watching Triton's twitter account, they've got a bunch of new tools that they don't seem to have announced properly yet.

In the foreground, this one looks like Festools MFT. In the background on both sides, they kinda look like router tables. All of them featuring new (for triton) legs. Pressed steel looks out for the tops.

This one is less interesting, but looks like two different sizes of random orbit sanders.

From their facespace page, another angle of what really does look like a router table. Aluminium rails are in, maybe no MDF fence any more?

I wonder if this will be compatible with things like the box/finger joint jig. Or if somehow I can scam a table to review *cough*

Last rumour-mongering post (hopefully) before they reveal stuff.

It looks like the work centre range is being updated. I've got a table saw, so I'm not sure immediately whats different there, but on the RTA300 replacement it looks like some sort of melamine or plastic top (presumably on MDF), new proper featherboards and T track, new fence. Looks to be possibly a bit flatter, larger work surface as it doesn't have the sliding table. That'd make it incompatible with some of the existing accessories.

"End of an era" type changes, but that doesn't mean it is bad perse, we'll just have to see I suppose.

Slightly more yellow orange? Hard to tell with stupid instagram filters. Updated styling regardless, which (IMO) probably is a little overdue.

edit: looks like wheels on everything now. That'd be a welcome changed, I've got the RTA300 and the stand for that hasn't had wheels available for a long time from what I can see.

Pricing of the Workcentre would need to be interesting, with the price of cabinet saws coming down in the past few years. Still, its good to see the brand still going. It got me hooked on woodwork, and countless other people too.

Re a comment above from VikingCode, wheels for the RSA300 are still available, at least in the UK if Carbatec don't have them.
    See for instance here:

    But they seem excessively expensive.

Yeah, as a new comer some of Tritons pricing just seem bizarre since I didn't (at the time) understand their place in Australian history. Their tracksaw is a product of the new owners and the pricing for that is about on par for other big name tracksaws.

When I was looking around for them, I asked Kincrome and they (at the time) said they didn't have the part. You're right though, at $40AUD+P&H, I'll just continue to lift the router table when I need to move it, it isn't that heavy!

Since I'm writing a post anyway, I think I can get away with another new product I've spotted.

20v impact and drill drivers, with 4Ah batteries. I kinda like the shape/size of their 12v drivers but thought that they'd be a bit underpowered.

    So far thats

    • Updated workcentre
    • Updated router table
    • New "MFT" style table
    • New drill/impact driver
    • New (random?) orbital sander

According to their facespace page, the updated router table (and presumably saw table, lets hope for the other products too) will be available in Australia.

I wonder if they will still be made in Australia like the WC2000. A new work centre was in the design stage when GMC went belly up they had said that it would not be compatible with existing gear which was a change in Triton policy. I wonder if these are the fruition of that or a complete design from the new owners.

According to this video (I'd recommend turning off the sound for it, ugh)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_os1wi1jp0 Apparently there will be many videos up after the hardware show is over.

There will be three items in the T20 range (impact driver, drill driver, and I guess hammer?)
There will be more items in the T12 range - recip saw, light, power hammer (maybe?), extension/angled drill.

    Default Triton WX7 Workcentre

Picked up this brochure of the new Triton Workcentre at a recent hardware show. It could take about 12 months to reach our shores, so things could still change. Some of the negatives compared to the old workcentre, is that you need 2 devices/attachments to perform the duty of a table saw and a cross-cut saw. Apparently only the TSA001 can be attached to the saw table module. Not sure why the did not keep the old aluminium fence, as that was a really innovative design. What has improved is the measurement scale on the two fence arms. It is more legible and replaceable. T-track rails are always a bonus and is now used extensively on the table. The fence on the Router Table module also includes a T-track for easily attaching stop guides etc. The black material that they use is some kind of low friction material called Mdot? Looks like some type of phenolic compound to me.

Have a look at the attached brochure and you can make up your own conclusion.
