    Default Triton resporator

Has anyone worked out how to replace batteries in these ? It would be nice to be able to have a spare charged up set on hand .Triton suggest having a spare complete battery pac/ filter / charger unit on hand but that costs about $75 .

Given how the 5xD sized cells fit into the unit, there is no easy way of swapping the cells over on a whim. They are soldered in place for one, plus access is not exactly a 5 second job.

Somewhere like Jaycar sell the cells for about $13 each, so $75 isn't a bad price at all considering what Triton are including, and the convenience of switching from one charged unit to the next.

    Thanks Stuart
Looks like I bite the bullet and pay my $75 if I want a standby unit .

You'll be happier in the long run. And for not much more money. (It's the solution I use, and I don't have to think about it, just swap them around when one runs low).

The alternative seems to be to fit the motor unit with a mini headphone socket and wire it up so when you put the plug in it disconnects the internal batteries - a fair number of those type of sockets have that feature to disconnect external speakers when you put headphones in.

Then buy a battery box & fill it with good quality AA rechargeables - for some reason they have a MUCH higher amp/hour rating than 'D' cells & most 'C' cells that you can buy of the shelf. Make a holder for the battery box & run a short cable & plug into the motor unit.
