    Thumbs up Router received

The Router arrived yesterday. I don't have power for a couple of days but at least I'm not under water, so won't be testing it til the weekend.

However, it looks very well made. It's design makes me think that warranty will not be a problem for this router. And it is clearly labeled "Made in Taiwan".

It comes with an above the table height adjustment handle.

It comes with 2 self releasing collets -1/2" and 1/4"

What it doesn't have is the rack & pinion height adjustment. But the plunge mode and fine adjustment through the complete height range seem to be more than adequate. And the height adjustment pick up point for in the table mode is now located in the router base. I really like this.

I can't wait to use it.

And my supplier has access to spares if required.

It is good to see that Carbatec finally have a similar router on their web-site. I note that the specifications and fine details appear slightly different though. ie. JOF001AUP = 1010W, Carbatec JOF001 = 1000W; JOF001AUP has 2 self releasing collets 1/2" & 1/4", Carbatec JOF001 has callet = 1/2" - includes 1/4" reducer. And the picture on the Carbatec website (at least for Perth) is different to my JOF-001AUP router.

    Stay tuned

$199 on the Melbourne Carbatec web this morning.

    1010W in the specs.

Also on the Carbatec Sydney webpage at $199.......just a pity that I was in the store middle of last week, asked someone about availability of this router, and they knew nothing about it. In fact, the guy insisted that I must be talking about the MOF001, as there were only two Triton routers.......

    Internal communications........FAIL

..........and the price is still falling, now on special at $149, but the big banner on the Carbatec front page still says $199 Case of right hands and left hands?

The big one is also on special at $279.

So, in the space of a bit more than a week the smaller router has gone from $269 (and $229 delivered on Ebay) to $199 and now $149.

    Margins anyone?

At breakfast time this morning I was just filling up my bowl with wheaties when I heard a clang......and there was a Triton JOF001 in the packet !

The factory door price for these things is probably not dissimilar to the GMC of old, so yes, there's plenty of margin in there even at $149.....
