The European standard was also used because there are (were?) regulations about the use of on/off switches which would have prevented the use of a 2400W machine having an on/off switch that wasn't a hold-down type, AFAIR.

Above table height adjustment.
When I picked up the TRB-001 last week, I asked if the above table height adjustment winder was included and was told no, it was an option ans they didn;t have stock.
I opened the box today and found that the winder is now included.
Didn't get a DVD though, should I have?Geoff

DVDs were not included with any model of Triton router and the instruction "manual" is little more than a leaflet. However, please make sure that you read the leaflet thoroughly before using the router, as some features are unique.
Consider the placement of the additional hole required for the winder, as mistakes have been made before. The extra hole should be in front of the machine and to the right, around 5 o'clock when stood at the front. Some have tried mounting it in the opposite "corner" only to find that it is then totally obscured by the fence.
If you're mounting it into a third-party insert, then you have absolute freedom in the orientation of the handles, etc. below the table - take your time in deciding the finished position, it's important!

Thanks Ray,
The router plate I'm going to use is blank so I'm going to think very carefully about where I put ANY holes, and about how I'll make them.
Are there any plate drilling templates to suit the Triton router?Geoff

Don't mind the non existent DVD but a brief explanation of what the knobs do would be nice!
The 'instruction manual' has several pages of safety instructions (useful but mostly common sense), a picture of the router with the bits labelled and that's it - and in 37 languages!
Fortunately, the Triton website has a manual that covers everything else.Geoff

There is a drilling template already provided - the black base-plate of the router itself! Note very carefully the orientation of the handles, etc. by offering it up, then remove the base (4 screws) and centralise it onto the underside of the insert by placing the base onto the underside face down. Pilot the four mounting holes, then offer up a large enough bit for the winder hole and mark the centre and pilot that. Turn over, complete the holes accurately, finish with a countersink or counterbore as required.
I reviewed the Triton routers a while back. There here if you get the time.

Thanks again Ray, Your review provides all the info that should have been in the manual.
EDIT: I just got an email back from Kinchrome and they are sending me a manual and a DVD, both of which should have been in the box with the router.Geoff

Don't know which insert you plan on using, but the TR series are big beasts. I plan on setting my TRA up on a Kreg top and insert, and the insert is not small, but the only way to set it up so it drops through from above is to remove the non adjusting grip from the side of the router and then mount it so the handle axis is accross the diagonal of the plate. The unit the drops into place without a hassle.
Thinking ahead, are you likely to use the router in the table with insert mounted template guides? If so, it is important to have enough adjustment in the mounting bolts on the plate to be able to centre the bit in the guides. The easiest way to do this is to use cheesehead screws instead of countersunk ones, and a thick plate. Use an oversize Forstner to recess the screw heads below the insert face, then drill through about 2mm oversize of the screws. This then gives you an adjustment range of bout +/- 1mm in all directions for centering.
Hope this helps

malb,
thanks for the heads up. The router plate I have from Woodhaven is exactly the same size as the Kreg one. Given that the hole in the router table top is going to be 20mm-30mm smaller than the plate, I'd pretty much resigned myself to having the router permanently in the table.
Hadn't thought much about template guides, something else to look into.Geoff

If you don't mount it diagonally, isn't it just a matter of lifting the plate and then rotating it a bit to lift the router out?
