Triton Router Dust Port
Hey,
I have recently purchased a new Triton Router (TRA001)
One questions I have is to do with the dust port. I am going to attach my shop vac into the dust port that comes with the router however i'm having trouble finding something that will fit into it. I believe it takes 1 1/2 inch hose and has a thread on the inside to create a tight fit when the hose is attached (triton branded dust accessory)?
What have you guys done? Would PVC piping work? I'm not real keen on purchasing the whole triton dust extraction system.
Thanks once again
Andy

I just jam the hose from the Aldi vac' into it. Fits 'beaut too. There's a thread on them around the place, if you find it, I've put up a link on there from a bloke who sells them on ebay.

I used a section of 32mm vac hose (same as the one that came with my shop vac) . You can loosen the screws attaching the dust port to the router a little and then thread the hose in and tighten them again. It works quite well.

Thanks for the replies.
I just losened the screws that attaches the dust port to the router and put my hose from my shop vac in and tightened the screws back up, it works a treat!!
Just one question- how far does the hose go in? Do you put it in as far as it can go without disturbing the router function?

Yes that is what I did. It ensures a good grip is achieved and delivers the suction as close as possible to the dust source.

Check out the Carbatec site for the Triton Router and click on the Manual. On page 5 it has details of the hose type - 38 mm O.D. (Don't know what O.D. stands for). It came with the Dust Collector (DCA300), which is available on ebay and does fit the latest model from Carbatec. By the way the manual on Carbatec's website is not of the current model.

Does anybody know if you can fit the template kit that comes with the 1400w model- MOF001 to the larger model 2400w - TRA001 ?

I just bought one and it comes with a base plate for the TRA001 and you can fit the template guides to this. In short, yes.

I'll have to conditionally disagree with metester - sorry.
You ask about the template kit that "comes with" the 1400W model (MOF001), rather than an additional purchase. If this is so and the kit looks like the one in the lid of the box shown below:
then the answer is a resounding "No." This is due to the fact that the template carrier (the lower item in the box lid) locates in grooves beneath the router baseplate, like this:
whereas the templates used with the larger router (TRA001) fit to an additional metal baseplate (rather than an inserted one), shown below:
IOW, you can use the TRA baseplate in the MOF (below),
but not the other way round.
It is possible to buy a template kit that has baseplates for both models included with the templates, but this is not what you asked, so I hope that this now shows all the possibilities and alternatives.
BTW, the template bushes are Imperial sizes, not metric.

My apologies to all. You are correct Ray. I clearly misread the post. I am referring to the template kit for the MOF that is purchased separately.

Thanks Ray for the clarification. The reason I ask is that I'm looking at this 1400w router for handheld work, and it comes with a template kit that I want to fit to my table mounted TRA001 triton.

Looks like I'll buy them seperately.
I wonder if there is a way of buying just the "mounting plate"? - I think that's what it's called. I want to have removable inserts on my router table that screws into this plate, similar to Roger Gifkins table plans.

I might just drill into the base plate and put a threaded insert to receive the inserts.
