Triton Router MOF001 repair and service
Running a 4mm slot to accept glass in the side of a display cabinet for "'Er Indoors" my beloved Triton Router MOF001, which I bought just under two years ago from Carba-tec NZ gave some stutters which I thought 'funny' .. anyway did the rest of the runs ...all ok.
The final router job was to round off the edges of the door frame ...... just a very slight touch ..... near the end the router hesitated then spluttered to a stop and, like "The Old Mans Clock" stopped, short, never to go again .....as I thought.
Some helpfull pointers on this site and contact with Glen at Carba-tec NZ saw the packing box hauled off the shelf and my lovely Router on its way to Auckland.
Glen and his team are always most helpfull and this time most concerned as they sell lots of them and they give very few problems at all.
Yesterday my beloved Triton Router MOF001 arrived back all sorted.
Now, it was over a year old and so out of warranty ..... Glen said that if they found it had not been misused and it appeared to be a manufacturing fault they would supply parts free of charge providing I paid Freight and Labour that was ok by me. Sure it was.
Turns out it was the armature ..... I think Glen said it was worth some $130.
My invoice was $72 which included Courier Post back to Westport. Then they rang back to say they had overcharged freight by $4 as it was to my PO Box.
Now I call this, standing by your product, I call it service and a most pleasant company to deal with.
The MOF001 router itself has proven to be a smashing tool for me, the amature woodworker and I am glad that with this one tool at least I chose right for a change.

There's nothing more disappointing than a tool breaking down in the middle of a job, we all hate it when that happens. But this is a great story where the supplier stood by their product and replaced the defective part. The warranty was up so they did not have to do anything and I think it is fair that in that case the customer paid for freight and labor.
A real win-win situation. well done carbatec NZ
DougI got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.
