Default triton router table fence modification

Is there a reason why the triton router table fence cannot be made to swivel on an end pivot instead of having to line up both ends of fence on insert ruler guide?

Or what are the advantages of leaving it as is?

I usually leave the far one and just adjust the nearest one, so it's pivoting anyway. Nothing has to be parallel.

Personally I just pivot the fence around one end most of the time.

Occasionally I'll use the mitre-guide and the fence, mainly for dust extraction purposes while cutting tenons and/or end-pieces, in which case I want the fence parallel to the track.

But apart from that I can see no advantages.

I can't remember EVER having used the ruler guide. It is a point cutter - so long as the fence to cutter tip distance is right, who cares what the respective ruler marks are! (Other than Skew's valid point of course wrt the miter sled)

Except if you use the fence and sliding insert at the same time

I have often crept up on the rebate mark so in the past I have needed to use the scales to indicate how much more to advance.
This need arises because I rarely use hinges on my boxes and outside edge of lid as not been determined until after fitting.

But interested to hear how others would tackle this fitting.

I've done similar, and for similar reasons.

However, if one end is simply pivoted then you can still use the rule at the other end to creep up, except that instead of the marks being 1mm increments (I think?) they become 0.5mm increments.

ie. you move one end twice as far to make the same adjustment as moving both ends equally.

I use the microadjusters to do that - theoretically 0.1mm adjustments of the fence position. Certainly makes creeping up on a flush rebate very easy, and controlled.
