Default Triton Router not winding fully down

Will not wind down fully for changing cutter. Stops with 6 teeth of the rack still exposed.

Depth stop free to retract and has plenty of travel left.

There is a "clunk" when it reaches this position, cannot see any external problems.

Is there any internal component inside the other guide that that could cause a problem.

Is being used under table with spring removed. Has been working fine up to today.

If you have the spring cap still on, then the normal issue is compacted dust in the cap.

Cap is off and was clean inside.

Sounds as if it is hitting a solid stop of some sort, first thought was depth adjustement, but has plenty of free movement on spring loaded tubular slider when at lowest position.

You haven't left the power switch of the router ON and switched it off at the plug by any chance??

My Triton MOF001 has a mechanical interlock on the switch to limit the height winder - not sure if this also applies to the bigger Triton router?

Yes it does , you need to have the switch off and the switch cover closed ,to prevent an accidental start before it will go the full depth,as the shaft lock engages near the bottom of its travel.

Yup - the clear plastic slider on the switch has to be retracted. I suspect that's the problem.

My table-mounted MOF-001 is wired through one of those twist-to-start, push-to-stop buttons, so in normal use the power switch on the router is left ON. Lost count of the number of times I've hit the button to stop the router (leaving the router switch ON), then found the router won't go all the way up to change bits.....

Glad it was an easy fix.....

Just be wary that the clear sliding plastic cover can also get clogged up with dust, in which case even when you DO turn the router switch off the cover doesn't slide back on the spring. Same result - router won't wind all the way up/down.
